Chloe took one more look at the image of the person she was about to approach. She hoped that, unlike his picture, he would at least be decent-looking and not possess a hair decorated with chips.
And she really hoped she wouldn't have to see him eat, because he didn't look like he had proper eating manners.
"You good?" Amir asked Chloe, following his question with a whoosh-like sound.
"Yes." She fully turned to him. "I should be asking you that question. You haven't stopped fidgeting since we arrived."
"I’m just so nervous. Aren't you?" A finger wiped a line of sweat that rolled down his forehead.
"I’m a bit nervous too,” she lied to soothe him. “I hope nothing goes wrong."
He gave a sharp exhale, his foot-tapping intensifying. "I hope so. Take care out there, will you?"
Chloe nodded and faced Sebastian, who was ensuring for the umpteenth time that nothing was wrong with his setup.
"Good luck, Chloe,” Sebastian said. “Thank you for agreeing to do this."
"Oh.” She waved off his statement. "It’s nothing." She got up and let out a deep breath. "Well, gentlemen, here goes nothing."
Amir nodded and let out another nervous exhale.
Chloe, when she got outside the lighted club, stopped to take a quick look around. There were a lot of cars that night, which meant a flooded club. And the perfect crowd to drug a lady and get away with it.
"Chloe, can you hear me?" Sebastian’s voice in the tiny, wireless device in her ear kicked her out of her little surveying.
"Loud and clear."
"Good. Your target is sitting by himself. Move now before someone else gets to him."
Strategically and with a seductive tone to her strides, Chloe moved. And her hair which she purposely let down, swung in unison.
"God have mercy..." She heard Amir breathe.
When she got to the entrance, her head turned towards one of the main surveillance cameras, and she flashed a confident smile at the gentlemen watching her from the hidden van.
Then, two bouncers welcomed her into the club. So did strobing lights, which were accompanied by silence.
But that quietness didn’t last long.
The DJ in the main hall immediately sent a tune into the space, causing a frenzy of approval from the fun-seekers.
Then the place achieved a different kind of liveliness. Even Chloe was tempted to join as she slithered further into the VIP section of the club.
Soon, her eyes started to roam for her target in the crowd.
"He is a little further from your right." Sebastian saved her the trouble. "Check the couches in the corner. But there’s a woman with him now.”
“Doesn’t matter.” She resumed walking. “I’m about to save her life.”
Once she locked in her target, she gave more poise to her seductive strides. She noted that the lady seated next to the target was pouring him a drink while eyeing him lustfully. Certainly, the woman was willing to f**k anyone that night.
"Eh-ehm," Chloe cleared her throat to draw the man’s attention.
"Can we help you?" The brunette whose thick red lipstick stood out definitely did not like the interruption.
"No," Chloe's eyes flickered to the man next to the ginger-red hair. Since he already noticed her before she got there, it was easy to capture his attention. “But you can.”
As she flashed him a flirty smile, she moved towards the lady, gently grabbed her arm and helped her up.
“Hey! What the f**k do you think you’re doing?”
Chloe sat in that spot. “What do you think?” her voice seemed to taunt the woman. “I am taking over. So...” Her hand did a mini-wave to dismiss her.
"B-but..."
"I’m sure you can find more men out there,” Chloe replied, her sharp sight noticing Amir blending in with the VIP section.
Angrily, the lady stomped her heel and walked away.
Chloe, with her smile still intact, then faced the man. Surprisingly, he was looking well-groomed; dressed in a nice shirt and all that.
“I got rid of her,” Chloe teased, her body subtly leaning towards him. “Did I do good?”
“Definitely,” his raspy voice nearly screamed into her ear. “You are a much better price for the night.”
“Right.” The word ‘price’ irked her, but she made sure not to expose that feeling. “So…” Her fingers reached to caress the rim of the wine glass tucked between his fingers. “How about you get me a drink?” Sensually, she tilted the cup to his lips. “To celebrate this night?”
“I would be stupid to say no.” He reached for the wine bottle on the stool next to him.
As he poured the drink into the empty cup he reserved for his victim, he commented, “Your sandals look gorgeous. I doubt they’d fit anyone else.”
‘Wow. How unoriginal,’ Chloe yawned in her mind.
And to his face, she adored him, replying with, “I like them too.”
“Chloe,” Sebastian whispered from the other end, “he just slipped something into your drink. Be careful.”
She received the filled glass from her target. “Thanks.”
The man shifted closer and after seconds of hovering his hand around her cheeks, his fingers traced her face, his interest boldly written on his face.
“I don’t think I’ve seen you here before,” he said. “Or have I been blind to this beauty all along?”
“I just moved here. Decided to come out for some fun to relieve packing stress.”
“That was a good decision. Drink up,” he urged her.
Instantly, Chloe became conflicted. She didn’t want to give the man the chance to make her unconscious. She definitely needed to create a distraction to get rid of the wine.
Gently, she pushed the glass to her lip, and under his unfailing gaze, she managed to fool him into thinking she had a little sip.
"Do you not like wine?” he asked when she pulled her face into a fake frown. “Should I get you something different?”
“No. No. It’s just… you’re staring so much.” She made her eyes turn shy. “You’re making me…feel a little uncomfortable.”
“Oh, my bad. I’ll look away. Anything to make you feel relaxed.”
Chloe chuckled in response.
Within the few seconds he turned, she got rid of the drink and pretended to gulp the entire glass.
After gasping with fake satisfaction, he turned to her while she joyously claimed, “It’s so tasty.”
"Right? Club NAG offers the best wine options.”
"I..." Chloe paused to make it seem like the substance was slowly taking effect. "It tastes really nice. Please pour me some…” She shook her head while making her eyes twitch slowly.
"You said?" She did not miss the little smug on his face.
"I want another glass of..." She drew her breath and her eyes batted like dirt had floated into them. "I am so sorry. I suddenly feel... I feel... slee… slee… py..."
She ended her drama with a loud yawn that led her to fall into her fake slumber.
His knuckles teased her face as he cooed, "Yes, yes, pretty. Go to sleep, you have a crazy night ahead."
Seconds later, he proceeded to carry her bridal style.
"You are doing a good job, Chloe," Sebastian whispered. “Hang in there.”
The man carrying her had only taken a few steps when a scream erupted from the crowd.
Suddenly, everything went silent.
"Nobody!" Chloe could hear troubled murmurs after that holler. "Nobody moves!" The voice strongly commanded. "Everyone, get down. Everyone!"
Slowly, Chloe was put on the cold floor.
That gave her a chance to peek at the situation.
"Oh, Lord. Something always goes wrong," Sebastian muttered from the other end.
A tall man dressed as if he were in the worst state of his life was in the middle of the room, holding something in his hand as he watched everyone comply with his command.
"Anyone who moves will put us all in danger.” He glared at the confused crowd. "Did somebody ask why? I will tell you why. Because…” He released a deranged laugh. "This entire place has bombs. You move and boom! We are all gone!”
