Since losing her father, Seraphine’s life has been nothing but misery. Working day and night for her mother and sister, she was treated not as family—but as their money machine. Love was replaced by cruelty, and home became a place of pain. Until one stormy night, she met Ethan — a stranger who was about to end his life. But instead of dying, he asked her to marry him. Sera thought it was just a drunk man’s nonsense… until the next morning, when he repeated it—sober, serious, and sincere. Accepting his proposal changed everything. Ethan wasn’t who he seemed, and the marriage that began as a desperate escape soon turned into a whirlwind of secrets, revenge, and dangerous love. Was this marriage her destiny—or the beginning of a new storm that would break her heart all over again?

Chapter 1
ght was incredibly dark, accompanied by a light drizzle that made the temperature in the city feel extremely cold. Seraphina walked while holding an umbrella, her gaze dull and weary, her steps heavy as she headed home after finishing her shift at a café. Seraphina sat at the bus stop, her eyes looking empty, her breathing heavy, as if many thoughts were weighing on her mind. Her phone rang, making Sera let out a soft sigh. “What are you doing? Why aren’t you home yet, Sera?!” A woman’s voice shouted from the other end of the line. That woman had been waiting for her to come home, but it was not concern she heard—there was something being demanded of her. “Hurry home. Olivia needs money from you! She has to go out with her friends!” the woman added. Not wanting to continue hearing her mother’s shouting, Sera chose to end the call. “They only want my money,” she murmured softly. At this moment, Sera had just received her pay after a month of working. She worked until exhaustion, even taking on additional jobs, yet she never truly enjoyed the fruits of her labor. Her mother always took all the money—for herself and for Sera’s younger sister, who was two years younger than her. They only wanted her money, without ever understanding how tired she was from working. After losing their father, Sera was the one most relied upon to earn money. But did they really have to treat her so cruelly? As if she were nothing more than a money-making machine, never caring about Sera’s condition or how she felt. Sera looked around. The rain had stopped, and a faint smile appeared on her face, as if forcing herself to go home—because she had nowhere else to go and no reason to stay out any longer. Sera had once thought about leaving them. Perhaps when she felt ready, she would truly leave her mother and younger sister behind and no longer care. Because, in her eyes, they should have been able to rely on themselves to work—especially Olivia, who was already old enough to earn her own money. Sera stood up from her seat, taking heavy step after heavy step as she walked home. However, her steps suddenly stopped when she saw a man walking toward a road where a car was speeding from a distance. “What is wrong with that man?” Sera wondered. Then she realized that the man intended to throw himself into the road. Without thinking, Sera pulled him to the side of the road, causing them to fall to the ground. “What are you doing?!” the man shouted angrily, offended that Sera had interfered. Annoyed, Sera quickly stood up and glared at him sharply. “I should be the one asking that! Why are you so stupid, trying to throw yourself into traffic?!” The man fell silent, staring at Sera in irritation. “None of your business!” Sera clicked her tongue in frustration. “If you want to die, make sure no one else sees you. Because someone else could get into trouble. No matter how heavy your problems are, you shouldn’t think about dying. STUPID!” “Broken heart?” Sera guessed when she noticed the ring box in the man’s hand, feeling a twinge of pity. “Your problem is pathetic, sir. There are plenty of women out there. Get up and move on. If you die, that woman will just laugh happily at your suffering!” Sera scoffed. “Why am I even bothering to lecture you?!” she added, annoyed. The man fell silent, as if realizing that what Sera said was true. “Why should I die?” the man whispered to himself. “Don’t kill yourself in public. If you’re going to do it, do it somewhere haunted!” Sera added. The man looked at Sera meaningfully. In his drunken state, he suddenly pulled Sera into his arms. Sera struggled, but the man was strong. “Be quiet! You’re very bold to interfere in my life, Miss. Whether I live or die is none of your business! If you interfere with my life, then become my woman—be my wife!” the man suddenly said, shocking Sera. “You’re crazy! Get a hold of yourself, sir! You’re drunk!” Sera said while patting the handsome man’s back. The man grabbed Seraphina’s hand tightly, staring intensely at the woman who had stopped him. Even so, his emotions were still running high because of the problems he had faced. “I never take back my words!” Seraphina looked at the man with confusion, disbelief, and disbelief at his foolishness. However, not long after, the man collapsed and lost consciousness. Sera clicked her tongue in annoyance. The drunken man before her caused her nothing but trouble. She couldn’t leave him behind, so she chose to take him to a hotel not far from there, with the help of several people. “Why do I have to help him?” Sera muttered irritably. She looked at the man’s handsome face, which made her feel slightly drawn to him. “What a shame. Your handsome face wasn’t enough for the woman you loved. Is she stupid?” Seraphina intended to move away from him, but the man’s hand grabbed her tightly, even pulling her into his embrace. “You’re stepping deeper into my life, Miss. You should have left me alone. You shouldn’t have cared about me! Now I hope you won’t ever regret interfering in my life!” the man said as the corners of his lips lifted, trapping Seraphina beneath his body. “What are you doing? Don’t touch me!” Seraphina snarled, but she couldn’t fight him off. “You won’t be able to refuse me, Miss. You already belong to me! I warned you not to interfere!” And so, the man forced Seraphina into a one-night encounter she had never imagined would happen to her. Her family was ruined, and her life was ruined along with it. That heated night passed quickly. Now the sun shone brightly outside. Seraphina woke up first, staring at the man in anger, gripping the thick blanket tightly, yet she also felt afraid that the man she had spent the night with might be dangerous. “I have to go home,” Seraphina murmured softly. Feeling pain in her intimate area, she slowly got out of bed and hurried home. After Seraphina left, the man woke up and realized the woman was gone. He became aware that what he had done had harmed someone. He got up, intending to look for her, but his eyes were drawn to a red stain on the bedsheet, making him rub his face roughly. The man hurried out of the hotel room, wanting to find the woman who had made him realize that life was everything. Even though he had been drunk that night, he remembered everything. “Miss, I will make you mine—no matter what happens!”
