##Chapter 26 A Smart Girl

I didn't even know what I was doing. I held him tight by instinct.

His body burned like mine. We were like a blazing fire and dry wood.

The smell of hormones swept through the room. I thought about my bottom line and virginity with my mind in a fog. I lost both of them to an unknown man in an unknown situation.

I didn't know what would await me. I didn't know who did that to me and why.

"What are you doing?"

I was in a doze when a woman screamed. And then, the blinding lights was on.

The man who held me in his arms released me. I opened my eyes and found out the owner of the other burning body. It was Wayne Fox.

"You are shameless!" the woman continued to shout nastily.

I got my senses back and looked over. The woman who stood there was Doris.

Wayne seemed to have a moment of trance, and then I saw a storm coming in his eyes.

I wrapped myself tightly with the quilt, having the most embarrassing moment in my life.

"Wayne Fox, how could you do that to me!" Doris yelled.

Wayne rubbed his temples and sat up in bed with his face full of impatience. I stole a glance at his naked body. The tight muscles evenly covered his body. The man line in his waist looked very manly. Wayne was masculine indeed.

"Who are you yelling at?" Wayne said impatiently, "There's nothing between you and me. And you have nothing to do with whom I'm sleeping with. Don't disgrace yourself."

"I'm disgracing myself?" Doris said with rage on her face, "Wake up, Wayne. Stop flattering yourself. You are not the only male in the world."

He looked up at her, his face mocking, "That's true. So maybe you should stop sticking to me. What about leaving right now? I don't have any feelings for you. I think you are aware, right?"

"Wayne Fox, we are engaged! We have engaged long ago. Don't you think it's too late to say that?" she cried.

I looked up at her expression, and I saw a lot of pain in her eyes. Until then, I realized Doris loved Wayne. And that was why she endured his insult over and over again.

"I never promised to get engaged to you. Even if I marry you, I do that for Fox Group, not you," Wayne said the most hurtful thing with ease.

Tears filled her eyes in an instance, "Good for you, Wayne Fox! I'll make you sorry for it." After that, Doris looked at me with madness in her eyes and said, "And you, a nasty w***e! It won't end well."

Doris turned and ran out of the room.

Wayne bowed his head in relief and rubbed his forehead painfully.

That was when I smelled the heavy smell of alcohol on him. It looked like he was set up and knew nothing about the drama.

I really had some hard luck. Once again, I was the victim of the feud. Thinking of that, my eyes got sore. What happened between Wayne and me was like a dream thing to a lot of girls in Garol, but to me, it was totally a nightmare.

I angered Doris, but that was not the key. I, myself, couldn't bear it.

"Why are you here?" Wayne asked hoarsely.

"The question should be mine," I said with my eyes closed.

He swore, "Damn! Who brought you here?"

"I don't know. Some men in black broke into our shop and took me away. They injected me with... that drug in the car. That is why I..."

Wayne understood what had happened from my words. He looked grim.

"So, what kind of conspiracy is this?" I sneered.

He looked back at me, and there was darkness in his eyes.

I looked at his face and suddenly felt worthy. I traded my body for his one night, and he might indemnify me. It was actually a good deal.

"Are you smiling?" Wayne asked.

I pulled the quilt tightly around me and answered with a smile, "It's cheerful. Shouldn't I be smiling? You are the dream guy, and now you are on my bed."

His eyes became sharp after hearing what I said, "What do you mean?"

"Wayne, I want to close the trade. The schemes among rich guys are too much for me. Yes, I work in Paradise Lost, but I cherish myself. Yes, I offended Leopard, but you are the one who is dragging me to the abyss. I can't do this anymore. I quit the game," I said calmly.

"What do you mean by game? You think I'm manipulating a game?" Wayne couldn't believe what he heard.

"Mr. Wayne, guess what Miss Green will do to me?" I said and looked at him coldly.

He had a moment of silence, and then he said, "I will handle this. I won't put you in trouble."

"Wayne Fox, I can't be your scapegoat any longer. I..."

"I said I would handle it!" Wayne roared, "I don't care who did this! He has to pay for what he did!"

I kept my mouth shut. Wayne revealed a different side to his usual self. The man was always calm and wise. Excitement was rear on his face except that time when he pointed a gun at Vincent.

Vincent Fox? I suddenly got some clues in my mind.

"Could it be Vincent?" I calmed down and asked tentatively.

He was a sort of shocked and said, "How did you come to this conclusion?"

I looked down at my naked body. It was really not good timing.

"You set him up once, so he did the same to you. It's the same stratagem. He wants to start a war between you and Doris. What do you think?" I analyzed it calmly.

After hearing what I said, Wayne was silent for a moment. Then, he nodded and said, "I said you were smart, but you are smarter than I expected."

I didn't know if it was a compliment or sarcasm, and I didn't care. I just wanted to get away from all those.

"Mr. Wayne, you don't know me. I'm actually unambitious, and I don't really enjoy a hectic and complex life. All I want is to earn money and run a small shop with my brother. It will be good enough to maintain a normal life. As for your family affairs, I truly don't want to be involved."

"Are you warning me?" Wayne said with a sullen face.
