CHAPTER TWENTY TWO First an angry backwoods politician, then Ellington, and now McGrath, Mackenzie thought as she dialed up McGrath’s number. I wonder who else I can manage to piss off today. As the phone started ringing in her ear, she stepped out of the Wakeman Home for the Blind and into the blazing Virginia sun. Ellington was behind her and in order to save any frustration or confusion, she placed the call on speakerphone. McGrath answered on the fourth ring and wasted no time with formalities. “Does the name Langston Ridgeway ring any bells for you, White?” “Yes, sir,” she said, not bothering with trying to make things seem prettier than they were. “I spoke with him about half an hour ago.
