Chapter twentyNothing existed in the world save for that coruscating bolt of fire lancing directly for my chest. A single agonizing thought of Delia pierced through my mind.

With fingers that felt like lumps of dough I reached for the next arrow. The shaft came out sweetly and nocked to the string. All the universe concentrated into a blaze of scorching fire burning into my eyes.

The light brightened incredibly. The noise as of cataracts of fire increased. The brilliance became unendurable and the heat smoked over my skin. My eyes squeezed wetly closed.

The light lessened! Astonishingly the brilliance faded. Fighting pain I forced my streaming eyes open.
