    After her hands swathed in a golden hue, Ari closed her eyes, allowing the power to course through her body, filter through her hands, and flow into Adrian’s head. Her only focus was what Audrey and Link had told her about his brain being under attack with the curse. Since she couldn’t heal him completely, the best she could do was soothe him. The best she could do was use the scânteie, like she had before, to help him feel comfort, as well as whatever it did to help him feel secure.

    When his head shifted a little under her fingers, Ari reopened her eyes and looked down, noticing he was awake and staring up at her under heavy lids. Captivated with his searing silver irises, a smile that had tendered deep within her heart spread instantly across her face.

    It was then she knew.
