Chapter 3

{Brett POV}

We had been doing the hearing for about an hour, when I finally presented the last case on the agenda. I was really tired and started to tune out as Zader asked for new business, but that didn’t last long. 

All eyes went to the back of the room where Davian was towing a girl to the front. My eyes bugged out of my head as he announced who she was. He found his mate. I immediately voted to bring her into the pack knowing that he was ecstatic to have found her finally. 

Davian was only 20, so he didn’t actually have to wait that long. I was slightly jealous of the kid. At 21, I have been waiting three years. I just wanted to have someone to love and share my life with. I knew that she was out there somewhere, but I just wanted to start getting to know her already. 

That’s when Davian caught my attention.

“Alpha, I do have one more thing to present to the ranked members.” 

I was very confused, since he seemed nervous. Davian was usually confident with the high ranking members, but respectful. He was our friend and very loyal to the pack, which is why Zader made him the head guard. 

“What is it Davian?” Zader questioned. 

Davian went into the story of his new mate, Carina, and her sister. They were orphaned two years ago, and she had to care for her little sister. They were completely alone in this world, and Carina was now going to join our pack. Her sister was going to be left completely alone, so Davian was asking for her to be accepted into the pack as well. 

“Is she present? I would like to meet her.” Zader said. 

The guards opened the doors at the back of the room, and a sweet scent immediately grabbed my attention. It smelled like crisp apple, and my wolf immediately jumped to the front of my mind. It took all of my strength to keep him from shifting right then and there. 

MATE!! WHERE IS OUR MATE?????

Cayde was going crazy, and my mating sense took over. In the blink of an eye I had rushed to the back of the room and put her against the wall between my arms. I was immediately protective and possessive of her. The only thing I wanted to do was kiss her right then and there.

“Mate.”

I didn’t realize that I had spoken until she opened one eye and then the other. She had closed them when I rushed up, and I felt a little guilty for potentially scaring her. Her green eyes were breathtaking, and I could see myself getting lost in her curious gaze. 

“Hello.” she said with a timid smile. 

I couldn’t find any real words to form, and I almost melted right then and there. I inhaled her scent, which drove me up the wall. My d*** immediately grew hard, and I knew it wouldn’t be long until I f***** her. Luckily, the Alpha growled behind me, which snapped me out of my trance. 

“Gamma Brett, please remove yourself from this young lady.” he spoke in his Alpha tone.  The mate bond is one of the strongest forces in the world, and he knew he would have to be just as forceful with me. 

I realized that I had actually picked this girl up in one arm, and she had even wrapped her legs around my waist. I smiled at her and gently lowered her to the ground. She let her legs drop to the sides and stood up on her own. I turned to face the Alpha and removed my hand from her back, but she grabbed it and held it. 

She stayed hidden behind me, and I could feel her squeezing my hand and slightly shaking. She was scared, and it broke my heart. My mate was scared, and I couldn’t fix it right away. 

“Alpha, I apologize, but the mate bond took over. This girl is my mate, and my wolf surfaced to protect her and claim her.” I said. 

I felt sorry for the Alpha, as he didn’t know what that truly felt like. Rylan spoke up from behind the Alpha on my behalf.

“Alpha, you know as well as anyone that the mate bond is next to uncontrollable, especially when it first occurs. I can speak to that as well. It wasn’t that long ago that I found Analia at the regional meeting.”

I remembered that day. I had stayed behind to manage pack operations while Zader and Rylan attended the regional meeting for Alphas. The Crescent Moon Pack was the host pack for this biannual meeting. Rylan had accompanied Zader, as is common for most of these meetings. That’s where he found Analia. 

She was the Young Gamma Female of the pack, and they instantly fell in love. He brought her back the next day, and she was a pack member within the week. 

“Yes, this is true. I would still like to meet her officially before the young Gamma whisks her away.” 

The room chuckled softly as I smiled and started walking toward the front. I turned to show my mate a smile of encouragement, and she stayed very close to me the entire way. When we got to the front, we joined her sister and Davian. She stood slightly behind me and next to Carina. 

“Nice to finally meet you. What is your name?” Zader asked. 

“Hello Alpha Zader. My name is Renley.” she said softly. She had the most beautiful name, and she was all mine. I smiled at my small mate, and squeezed her hand to tell her I was here for her. She slightly squeezed it back and moved closer to me. 

“Well Renley, it seems that you are now a pack member of Black Mountain and our new Gamma Female. Welcome to the pack!” Zader announced in his Alpha tone. 

The pack members burst out into cheers and applause as she hugged me and smiled in delight. 

“Gammas, it would seem that you need some time to get to know each other. You may be excused if you wish.” Zader said as he smiled at us. 

I looked down to my mate to see what she wanted to do, and she quickly hugged her sister and turned to me. She nodded her head, and I thanked the Alpha as we left the dining hall to make our way to the fifth floor. 

I led her to the elevators and hit “5”. Once inside the elevator I could smell her arousal more potently and realized that she was just as turned on as I was. I looked out of the corner of my eye and saw that she was biting her lip.

“Are you nervous?” I asked gently without looking at her. 

“Yes, but I know that I already love you.” She immediately slapped a hand over her mouth and backed into the far corner of the elevator. “I am so sorry! I shouldn’t have said that so soon. I barely know you. You probably think I am a freak! Oh my gosh…” she blurted out. 

I smiled widely at her innocence. “Renley, it’s not too soon at all. We are werewolves, and this is completely normal. I already love you too. I can also smell your arousal as well, so I know you want me.”

Her eyes widened, and she started to blush fiercely. “I..uh..I...umm” 

She stuttered and couldn’t get her words out. I took her hand and gently caressed the back of it. “Don’t worry. I won’t take you right here right now.” I smirked, but I could tell that she was starting to smell different. Instead of arousal, I smelled fear. 

My heart broke. She was scared of me. 

The elevator opened on my floor, and I led her through the large living quarters. My floor had 6 bedrooms (each with their own bathroom), a large living room, a private kitchen and dining room. Renley’s mouth dropped when we stepped out of the elevator. 

“You live here??” she gasped. 

“Yes, and now you do too.” I said with a grin. 

“Holy s**t. I am only an omega. My sister and I just lived in a small house on the outskirts of our old pack, and now I live in a freaking mansion??”

I laughed at her amazement, and I gave her the grand tour. We started in the living room, since that’s where we already were. Then I showed her the five smaller bedrooms, and we made our way down the hall to the kitchen. 

“Whoa! Your kitchen is huge! I loved to cook at home, and I can’t wait to have this all to myself…” she sort of trailed off at the end. “Well I mean if that’s okay. I know you probably have preferences about your home. I don’t want to step on your toes.”

She had no idea how much I already loved her and how much I wanted to share my life and home with her.

“You don’t have to apologize to me baby! This is not my home anymore. It’s our home. You can do whatever you want in here. If you want to repaint the walls, hang new decorations or move the furniture. Hell, we can get new furniture. If you want to rip up the carpet or wood flooring to replace it, thenI will start ripping right now. This is your domain, just as much as it is mine.”

She immediately smiled at me and wrapped me in a hug. I didn’t smell any fear coming from her, which surprised me based on the elevator experience. I hugged her back, and we stayed that way for a while. I don’t know how many minutes passed before she finally pulled back and looked up at me. 

“Are we going to finish the tour?” She giggled at me, and my heart melted. 

“Sure baby.”

I led her through the kitchen and into the dining room, and we finally made it to the master bedroom. I had a large king size bed against the wall on one side of the room, and a small sitting space on the other end of the room in front of the fire place. There were three doors directly across from us. One led to the master sized bathroom, one was my closet, and one was an empty closet for Renley. 

“This is your room??” I gave Renley a stern look, and she knew what I was trying to say. “Our room I meant to say.”

“Yes it is. You can redo the decorating if you want of course, but it’s all ours.” I opened each door to show her the bathroom and giant walk in closets, and we eventually ended up near the bed. My wolf was practically jumping up and down at the thought of mating with Renley. 

I sat on the edge of the bed, but Renley stayed a safe distance away. “Does this make you nervous?”

She looked down and took a giant step back from me, and I immediately smelt a mixture of fear and arousal from her. My wolf and I were both very confused at her reaction, until I looked down and saw what she saw. My d*** was rock solid, and she could see it through my pants. 

I grabbed a pillow and placed it strategically on my lap. She looked up at me with fear in her eyes. 

“Renley, I am sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you. You don’t have to be afraid of me. I am not going to force you into anything or rush you. Please don’t be scared of me.”

I watched as tears started streaming down her face, and my heart broke. I felt pain from making my mate cry, and I wasn’t completely sure why she was upset.

“What is wrong Renley? Is it something I did to make you uncomfortable?” I asked trying to figure out the problem so I could fix it. There was nothing I hated more than thinking my mate was scared of me. 

“No, it wasn’t anything you did specifically. I am just scared to tell you.” 

“What are you scared to tell me? You can tell me anything.” I tried to reassure her. 

“You won’t want me anymore.”

That statement alone boggled my mind. I couldn’t imagine a world where I wouldn’t want this beautiful girl standing in front of me. 

“That would never happen. I will always want you.” 

“I don’t know how to have s*x. I am a virgin.”

I stayed silent for a moment to see if that was all she was going to say. When I realized that she was done, I couldn’t help but reach out and hug her. 

“Baby, there is nothing wrong with that. In fact I feel lucky to have a virgin as a mate.”

She had her head on my chest and arms around me, so her crying was muffled. She looked up at me from between my arms and tears were in her gorgeous green eyes.

“You do?”

“Yes Renley. I am a virgin too.”

Her mouth dropped, and she backed away from me. “There’s no way. You are sculpted like a god! You’re incredibly sweet and caring. I figured girls would have been all over you.”

I laughed and squeezed her even closer to me. She was so sweet and had no idea what kind of power she held over me. 

“I was approached by many girls for s*x--” She cut me off with a low growl. 

“Oh my gosh, I am so sorry. I have never growled before! I don’t know where that came from.” She sounded so embarrassed at her reaction, and I couldn’t stop myself from laughing. 

She jerked her head up and scowled at me. “It’s not funny! I don’t growl like that.” 

“Baby I am not laughing at you. I am amused by you. That was your wolf coming out. She’s possessive of me and my wolf. It’s natural.”

She nodded, and I finished my story. “Several came to me and wanted to have s*x with me, but I turned them all down. I stayed a virgin for my mate, for you. I knew I wanted my first time to be with the woman I would spend the rest of my life with.”

She started crying again, but it was harder than last time. “What’s wrong?!?!? What did I do??”

She smiled through the tears and shook her head. “Nothing is wrong. That’s the sweetest thing that anyone has ever said to me. I’m crying happy tears.”

I wiped her tears from her cheek as they fell, and I kissed the top of her head. She started to look up at me, and I was just lost. Before I knew it, she was kissing me. Her lips fit perfectly with mine, and our mouths opened during the kiss. I didn’t want to push my luck, so I just let her lead. 

After a few long moments, she finally pulled away. Renley snuggled her face into my chest. “Are you tired?” 

“Yes. It’s been a long and emotional day. Only just this morning I was a mateless Omega wolf, and I didn’t know for sure where I was even going to be living tonight. I have stressed all day about whether or not your Alpha would accept me. I was extremely happy for my sister because she found Davian, but I was scared that I would be left alone.” she confided. 

“Well, now you are a Gamma female that has a mate and a whole floor to live on. And you are mine.” She kissed me again, and sighed. “Alright, I think it’s time to get you to sleep. You can take the bed I sleep on one of the couches in the sitting area.” 

I unwrapped from her and walked to my closet to pull down the extra sheets and a blanket. I made my bed on the couch and walked back to the bed to grab my pillow. I noticed my mate was still standing where I left her. 

“What’s wrong baby? You can get into the bed if you want. I won’t bother you if that’s what you’re worried about.” I tried to coax her to get under the covers. 

“I don’t have any clothes. I left everything behind in my old pack. I don’t even have pajamas…”

I grabbed her hand and stroked her cheek to comfort her. “Don’t worry about that. You can sleep in one of my tshirts tonight, and we will go shopping tomorrow. I have plenty of money that you can spend.”

A small smile stretched across her face, and I could tell she was definitely planning on wrecking my credit card. 

“Thank you Brett. I really appreciate that.” I kissed her hand and walked over to the closet to grab an old tshirt. I hand it to her, and she timidly looks around the room. 

“If you want some privacy, I would understand. I don’t expect to see you naked if that’s what you’re nervous about.” 

She let out a sigh of relief and smiled at me. Renley scurried off to the bathroom and changed quickly. She came back into the room and crawled underneath the covers. 

“Goodnight” I said as I walked over to the door to turn off the lights. 

I made my way to the couch and got covered up myself. 

“Goodnight.” she said timidly. 

I closed my eyes and breathed in her scent. It was sss to know that my mate was only a few feet away from me, and she was all mine. Nothing in the world could make this better. 

As I was trying to fall asleep, I heard her clear her throat. My eyes popped open, and I could tell she needed something. I didn’t want to say anything though in case she wasn’t comfortable just yet. 

“Umm..Brett...Are you awake?” she whispered. I smiled and responded. 

“Yes.”

“Can you come get in bed with me? I am cold.”

I jumped out of the couch and ran to the bed so quickly that I could see her hair move from the wind coming off of me. She giggled and scooted over to let me in. I crawled in next to her, and she cuddled into me. 

I was wrong...now nothing in the world could make this better.
