Chapter 35

3336 Words

{Enslee POV} The screams were ones of pain, and I languished at the thought of having to deliver a dead baby. I had only had a breach birth happen twice. One time the baby survived, but the other time wasn’t so fortunate. I remembered the pain of the parents as I bundled up the cold bulk and handed it to the mother as she wept over the life lost. I dreaded ever having to do that again, but I knew we didn’t have much time. It was pertinent that I got in as soon as possible. We walked through the front door without knocking and went through the living room to the back bedroom where the screaming was the loudest. James came out of the closed door and grabbed me by the shoulders. “You have to help her. She is in so much pain, and the baby isn’t moving.” I rushed past him into the room.
