I repeat it like a mantra in my head as we walk towards what I assume is Eli’s office. Jake motions to go inside so I enter without knocking, the other two following behind me. Eli is sitting at his desk wearing the same outfit as this morning at the meeting, except now his top three buttons are undone and his sleeves are rolled up to his elbows. His body is tense, head down in his hand. A half empty glass of amber liquid is resting on the desk.
His head snaps up as we enter the room and his eyes fall on me, his lips turning up into a soft smile. I can't help it, I walk right over and slip onto his lap, cuddling against his chest. I feel his whole body relax as his arms slink around my waist and his lips kiss the top
