Chapter 22 Dangerous Relations

932 Words

"I did nothing wrong! It was you!" Lillian's voice rose, as if shouting loud enough could drown out the gunfire she'd heard on the road just minutes before. The next moment, her finger, which had been pointed accusingly at Claude, was caught in his iron grip. His hand was like a vise, making it impossible for her to pull away. With a silent click, the door to the room locked, and the heavy curtains drew shut, cutting off her view of the outside world. The bedroom transformed into a cage, and the dim, amber light only made the atmosphere feel more charged, both seductive and dangerous. Claude shoved Lillian onto the bed. This time, he didn't rely on any mechanical devices. Before she could regain her balance, he braced himself on the edge of the bed and easily lifted himself onto it.
