Peter glanced at the rearview mirror, only to be caught by Claude.
Under Claude's warning gaze, Peter obediently withdrew his gaze and focused on driving.
Claude seemed to finally make up his mind. He took out the box he'd been holding in his left hand and offered it to Lillian. His tone was dry as he said, "This is for you."
Lillian snapped back to attention. She didn't want to take it. "The gifts you've given are already valuable enough. Regardless of the cost, it's just a number to you. It's meaningless."
Claude insisted on placing the box in front of her. "Open it."
"Why..." Lillian grumbled as she opened the box.
Her complaint abruptly ceased when she saw the necklace inside.
It was her pearl necklace! The one where she had personally handpicked every single pearl.
