The pack house was exactly as I remembered it. That was the first thing that hit me when Soren opened the main doors and stood back to let us through—not changed in the ways I had braced for. The same stone floors. The same high ceilings that caught sound and held it in place. The same smell underneath everything else, woodsmoke and old timber and something particular to Silver Moon Pack that I had never been able to name but that my wolf recognized the way she recognized everything about this place. Immediately and completely. Eli walked in beside me and stopped. He looked up at the ceiling. Then at the long corridor stretching ahead. Then at the wide staircase at the far end. He turned slowly in a full circle taking it all in with the systematic thoroughness that was entirely his own
