Chapter Seven Theo She was too easy to be around. Full of light and life, hidden joy, and humor. Her gentle, delicate features. Cute nose. Nearly invisible freckles, only noticeable up close, dusting her cheeks. Her eyes were stunning as well—liquid night. Looking in them stirred feelings I thought long dead. Everything about her was distracting. Delicious. Arousing. Engulfing. Unfortunate, since none of it mattered in the end. Her time was up. My stomach dropped at the thought of not seeing her again, of no second date and what it might have held, but I shoved it out of my mind. Tonight would be about her final hours.
