November 24 2010 was a normal Wednesday for everyone, and they were excited to have Thanksgiving dinner. They had everything except dinner rolls, so Stevie decided to go to a local grocery store to get some but they didn't have any. She called Billy to tell him she had to go somewhere else to get them so he wouldn't be worried when she wasn't back as soon. She had both of her children with her.
Herman showed up at Stevie's father's house looking for his son, Steven (Stevie's father) told him to go back home that his daughter would deliver his son to him and if she didn't call the police.
Instead of going home him and his brother, Jeremy, went to Billy and Stevie's house. Billy was sitting on the couch waiting for them, because Steven had already called to warm him. Billy answered the door with a shotgun when they showed up because he knew they were there to cause trouble. Before he could even shoot, he was shot through the chest. Standing in the doorway of his own home, Jeremy and Herman claim that he was pointing the shot gun at him. Remember, Herman isn't even supposed to be there or anywhere near there because of the protective order against him.
Jeremy says that he shot Billy in self defense to protect himself and his brother from Billy. Billy had every right to have a shotgun to try to protect his home and himself, but he didn't even have a chance to shoot the gun.
The murder was reported by Stevie Jo at 4:58 pm, but she wasn't even there when it happened according to her and her father. Everyone is wondering how she knew what happened when she was supposedly not home, and out of town.
When the cops are checking things out in the house they don't see the shotgun that the Gehl boys are talking about. They didn't collect evidence at the time they showed up, but did a report on it at the time.
