As we were all about to disembark, Shanks called me back. I glanced up to see him coming down the steps. "I know how crafty you are when it comes to those cutlasses lassie. See to it you sell them at a good price. Be a shame for them to go for less than they are worth." I replied "Yes captain, I plan on making every piece of gold possible and then some for what i went through to learn how to make these." I smiled. He nodded his head and whispered something to Rorick while he waved me off. I began walking down the dock when Rory caught up to me. "Father wants us all to set up market in the black district. He wants those swords and explosives out front and center in the same stall." I nodded in agreement. We caught up to my sister and the others and began our trek to the black district. Winding our way around drunks, whores, and other pirates who knew exactly who we were. The six of us have gained a reputation in the last five years, adding to the one the boys already had when they first captured us. Then they were known as Captain Shank's sons of the seas, now we were known as The Dutchman's spawns. When we plunder, we do so with no mercy, and we move in like ghosts. No one ever sees us coming, and by the time they do, it's too late. The isle of Tortuga is an odd island. It basically looks like a volcano that somehow cracked open on the side and was hollow. You can sail right into the middle of it and make port at the island in the middle of it. Pirates had built cobblestone roads and wound their way up the spiral like island along with buildings and taverns. At the top of the spiral was the pirate council meeting hall. The only sunlight that came through was from the massive gaping hole in the top of the volcano like walls surrounding the actual island. Every other light source were the oil lamps that were lined up and down the cobble stone roads and buildings. We wound up some of the cobblestone roads until we finally reached the black district. Rorick found a stall smack in the middle of the street and Isyla and I began to set up. Her explosives were being set on the multiple shelves of the front of the stall along with keeping the larger quantities in boxes and bags that some of the crew had helped us unload. My cutlasses were laid out with great care on the top of the stall while some were hung from the hilts. I started polishing them some more as we waited for market time to start. The boys were laughing and Isyla popped by Sassy O'shae's to grab us a bottle of rum to share along with some meat pies. As I was finishing up the polishing on one of my creations, Rory, bent down next to me and sideswiped me with a kiss. I smiled and glanced up, the boys and my sister knew about us but they were the only ones. Everyone else on the ship we had been extra careful not to let it show. "You are trouble good sir, I'll never be wed if someone sees us." I said teasingly. Rory grinned and said "doesn't matter, You're mine anyways." And grabbed the back of my head and pulled me into another kiss. The kiss ended with both of us smiling because the boys started making whooping noises. We broke apart when we heard the bell chime to signal the start of market time. I smiled and said "Get out there and sell our inventory Lieutenant Rorick." He smiled and and went over to the boys as the first wave of buyers made their way into the districts. We saw all types of people come and look at our specialties. Many people were interested in the explosives my sister had created, they sold out of everything we had almost by noon and there was a massive moan of protest from the crowd. Isyla took Jorah and Sam to go and replenish her stock from the ship. Rory stayed behind to help me sell more of the cutlasses. I was showing a stranger one where i had created a chamber in the hilt to hold poison that when released, would race down the blade and coat itself, thus creating a trick that no one would see coming in battle. Rory patted me on the shoulder as he took the man's gold. Isyla had returned with the boys and a couple crew members carrying barrels and sacks of her explosives. The boys wanted to take a break so they all ran off to grab us lunch. "No, It's not possible....Calypso? Isyla?" I heard a voice and Isyla and I met each others eyes before we turned to see who knew us. Standing in front of our stall was none other than our big Sister Shaw with a look of utter disbelief. Shaw was tall now, her long honey brown hair kept in a tight thick braid that trailed across her shoulder, she wore a navy lady brigadiers outfit along with one of my cutlasses i had sold last time I had been in Tortuga. Her green eyes started to tear up when Isyla and I reached for her. "Shaw! What are you doing here?" Isyla asked as we all embraced. "I had been gifted this cutlass the last time I was here, I heard the maker was back for market and I came to thank them for their beautiful work but then I was pointed to your booth and I couldn't believe it. You girls are all grown up!" All of a sudden we heard more exclaims of disbelief, we turned and saw our brothers Soren and Mako rushing towards us. We were crushed in a massive group hug, and when we finally released each other I realized Roger was nowhere to be found. "Where is Father and Roger?" Shaw turned and said "They are on The Screeching Banshee headed for the sea of thieves. I command father's second ship and the boys help me keep everyone in line. Father needed roger's specific talent since he knows the natives there and the rest of us don't." I nodded. Isyla squealed again and hugged Soren while I looked at how different everyone was. Soren was the tallest and oldest of us all. His voice was deep now and he had the same green eyes as Shaw and Father. Mako, Isyla and Roger all had blue eyes like our mom. Mako was nearly as tall as Soren but more beefy with muscles. Isyla had become dainty but very quick on her feet, almost like an ally cat. Shaw and I shared the same stature and height and both of us have more than enough in the way of curves. really our only differences were how my eyes were green and blue, and i had braids and dreads in my hair kept with beads and feathers while her hair was braided. other than that, we could almost be mistaken for the same person. I glanced down the ally and saw the boys start to return, I panicked. "Isyla! Look!" She noticed and we both started shoving our siblings towards another ally, their protests drowned when they realized who was coming "Shaw I promise we will speak again, we are here for a full seven days, Meet me tomorrow in the blue district, I'll explain everything, please do not start a fight or anything I will explain everything." I pleaded with my sister, She finally looked me in the eyes and with a look of confusion agreed. The boys protested but she snapped at them to keep quiet. We all hugged goodbye and Isyla and I walked back to the stall. We glanced at each other with worry in our eyes and set ourselves back to our selling. The boys came up with turkey legs and more rum laughing at each other. Rory sat one down in front of me and I tore into it with anger that our meeting with our family was lost to mayhem. I glanced at the ring on my finger and my heart ached. Isyla could tell something was off with me. While the boys went around selling our swords and explosives, isyla took the chance to ask me what was wrong. "We just found our family again and yet, part of me doesn't want to leave because I love Rory. But the other part of me knows where we belong is with our brothers and sister. What do we do? what do I tell Shaw tomorrow for that matter?" Isyla shook her head, "I don't know, but we will figure it out. The boys hated tearing us from our family maybe.....maybe we can convince everyone to get along and we can start a mutiny for captain Shanks and finally leave, you can have the best of both worlds." I sighed. "No, unfortunately, loyalties when it comes to pirate captains usually lie within the gold or hearts. and that's their father. Rorick would never leave him..." Isyla hugged me and told me we'd figure it out, but i was drowning in my thoughts of betrayal.
By the end of the day my mood had soured even though Isyla and I had made out fetchingly with our sales. We made more than we thought we would and she had sold out completely of the first days revenue. I had two cutlasses left and I was looking to sell them before I left for the day. A tall figure in a robe walked up and started inspecting another cutlass with a similar poison chamber to the first one I'd sold. The hilt was black with silver inlaid in a swirl design, the blade itself made from some of the finest metals i'd ever crafted with. I walked up and introduced myself as the craftswoman of the blade. "Afternoon, name's Calypso, interested in my cutlass?" He nodded and all I could see in the hood was shadows. I started explaining what all i had done to craft the weapon and it's balance to him but I noticed he kept looking back at me. It was eerie. "You're one of the daughters of Captain Rook, yes?" he spoke. I froze. i nodded my answer. He said "Good. I need your help. If you could grab your siblings tomorrow while you're in the blue district and meet me by the storage houses, I'll explain everything." He handed me a heavy pouch filled with gold and took the cutlass. "This is beautiful work by the way." and walked off. I was still speechless for a moment and Rory walked up to me. "Everything alright?" he said. I blinked. "Yeah, just a weird customer." We sold the last cutlass and then we were off to the Wicked Wench Tavern.
