I woke up to the sound of my alarm blaring in my ear, and I groggily reached over to turn it off. I lay in bed for a moment, thinking about the day ahead of me. I wasn't looking forward to it. The Pack gathering was today, and I was required to attend. I had been putting it off, trying to come up with excuses to get out of it, but I knew I couldn't avoid it forever.
I threw off the covers and got out of bed, padding over to the window to look out at the day. The sun was shining, casting a warm glow over everything. It was a beautiful day, but I couldn't appreciate it. I was too busy worrying about the gathering. I didn't want to go. I didn't want to deal with the drama and the politics of the Pack.
