I settled into the plush couch in my parlor, grateful for the quiet morning moment to myself. Anna burst through the door, a bright smile on her face and a tray of snacks in her hands. "Hey, girl! I brought your favorite treats," she said, setting the tray down on the coffee table.
Lily was already at school, and I was looking forward to a relaxing morning with my best friend. Anna plopped down beside me, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "So, girl, gist me about you and Luca," she said, her voice low and conspiratorial.
I felt a flush rise to my cheeks, and I looked away, trying to play it cool. "There's nothing to talk about, Anna," I said, trying to sound nonchalant.
Anna raised an eyebrow, her expression skeptical. "Common, girl, there's always something," she said
