Charmaine's POV
I take a deep breath, trying to shake off the lingering doubts. I need to move forward, to make a life with Marcus and Lily. I decide to go meet Marcus, to tell him that I'm ready to take the next step. I make my way to his office, my heart pounding in my chest.
When I arrive, Marcus looks up from his desk, a hint of a smile on his face. "Charmaine," he says, his voice low and smooth. "What brings you here?"
I take a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves. "I've made my decision," I say, my voice firm. "I'm ready to mate with you, for Lily's sake."
Marcus's smile widens, and he leans back in his chair. "Of course you had to," he says, his voice dripping with satisfaction. "It's all for Lily."
Something about the way he says it doesn't sit right with me. It sounds...off.
