Chapter Eight

They all gather in the living room. Everybody is silent. Eric’s looking out a window. Aki is staring blankly at the motionless tv. Leeroy is sitting on the floor just staring at a wall. While Mandy is sitting in front of the couch holding her legs and looking at the floor.             “So…” Aki says breaking the silence. “Why’d we come out here?” Eric asks. “Like, you two knew the risks of coming out to the Bermuda. You two knew we could possibly die. What was so important about coming out here?!” Eric yells. Mandy looks up at him with a disgusted face. “Look… we just…” Leeroy starts to say. “No, I don’t care. If we die. It’s both of your faults. You understand?” Eric says with spit coming out of his mouth.  “Woah now. I told Aki not to come.” Leeroy bursts out. Aki looks at him in shock. “We had an agreement!” Aki yells. “Why’d you tell him not to come?” Eric asks. Leeroy looks around and notices everybody was looking at him for answers. “A crew of about 25 men just disappeared around the Bermuda last week. That’s why I told him not to go but he didn’t listen.” Leeroy says as he sits down. “You little piece of…” Eric starts to yell as he headed towards Aki ready to punch the living s**t out of him. “Woah now! If you want me to be completely blunt with your ass, it’s just as much your fault as it is his. We all came out here knowing the risks. Now is not the time to go against each other. We have to work together to survive.” Mandy says. “She’s right. To even be able to leave we have to work together and go through the Bermuda to even get to the edge of the triangle. We can’t go against each other.” Aki says. “You’re only agreeing to save your own ass.” Eric says as he walks back towards the window. It goes silent again. All Mandy can think about is hoping they make it through alive, but not to go back to Florida. To go back to her city. She wants to free her people again and make those who imprisoned them pay for what they did. While everybody else is just hoping they make it back to Florida alive. Out of nowhere, Mandy walks out onto the deck to get some fresh air. She sits down on the bench and looks out at the ocean. “Come on. Throw the rest at us already so I can see my people already.” She thinks to herself. She looks out in the distance. “What… what is that?” She mumbles under her breath. All she sees is the water moving in a narrow like way. Like something small was swimming in the ocean. It gets closer and closer. “It looks like a snake head but what the hell is a snake doing out here?” She asks herself. She keeps watching it, thinking that it might be harmless. But then it gets too close and she realizes how big the snake really is. As the snake goes under the boat, she runs inside to warn the others. Right when she gets inside, the boat starts to go sideways instead of forward. “What’s going on?” Eric asks. Mandy looks at him. Her eyes bulging out of her head. “I’m not sure but it looked like a… a giant snake…” She says. “A what now??” They all ask. “Like anaconda type giant snake?” Aki asks. “No. Something way bigger than a regular anaconda. Guys I’m honestly having doubts now.” Mandy says as she falls to the floor crying. “Get up.” Leeroy says. “We’re going to beat this. Trust me.” Leeroy says. “Um, I’m terrified of snakes. Can I sit this one out? I don’t think I’ll be much help.” Aki states. “If we need you, we’ll call you.” Mandy says. They all go down to the storage room to grab some weapons. Mandy has her shot gun. Eric has his fish chopping machete. Leeroy has his bat. Mandy brings Aki a sword and pistol. Just in case. As she hands Aki his weapons, they all hear a loud crunch noise. ‘Why did it sound like it just crushed part of the boat?” Aki asks terrified. They look out the window, onto the dock. The snake wrapped its body around the boat. Squeezing it tighter and tighter as every second passes by. “It’s a Titanoboa.” Leeroy states. “A what now?” Eric asks. “A Titanoboa. They lived around 58 to 60 million years ago, around Colombia.” Leeroy says while trembling in fear. “If they lived millions of years ago, especially around Colombia, what the hell is one doing out here, right now?!” Eric starts to yell. “Quiet. We don’t want it to know that we’re here.” Leeroy says. “But I guess they migrated out here over the years… I’m not sure honestly. You have to remember only five percent of the ocean is discovered. The megalodon could still be around for all we know.” He continues. “Oh yes thanks for that one. How the hell do we get rid of this snake?!” He asks. “We all cut it and just pray that it doesn’t eat us.” Mandy says sternly. Aki is still in the living area trembling as he looks out the window at the gigantic, most terrifying creature he has ever encountered in his life.
