Chapter 3

698 Words
Elena             I crawled under the bed before he could find me. I heard footsteps run out into the hall as I lay there trembling in fear. Where am I? Who is this person? Am I in danger?             "Lydia! She's gone, I can't find her! Help!" I hear the boy yell. From the sound of his voice he doesn't seem like a bad person. But you never know. I can't shake the feeling that I'm in danger.             Did they kidnap me? Why can't I remember anything? Did they somehow erase my memory?              Or are they trying to help me?             The boy sounds desperate to find me, like he's known me for a long time. But I don't remember him...what the heck am I saying?! I don't remember anything or anybody!             Footsteps stampede back down the hallway toward the bedroom I am in while I sit patiently waiting for them to go away.             "Go away." I whisper accidentally too loud.             Something rushes toward me  fast, wind blowing my hair back, and lifts up the comforter that was concealing me from whomever is after me. That something turned out to be a someone. It is the boy. He runs his hand through his messy black hair that covers his bright green eyes and whispers, "Found you". Alaeric             "Don't hurt me." She whimpers under the bed.             Hurt her? Surprised I say, "I would never". I hold out my hand to her. She glances back and forth between my face and my hand a few times before slowly taking my hand. I help her up to her feet and ask, "What's your name?".             Her face scrunches up and she looks down as if she is thinking about it. Does she not want to tell me her name? Finally she looks up into my eyes and says, "Elena".              Elena, I think to myself, what a pretty name. "My name is Alaeric, Ric for short. This is my sister, Lydia." I say as I walk over to my sister who is still standing in the doorway to my room, staring at Elena. I look back to Elena and my mouth almost falls open.              Her eyes. They are not brown like I had guessed. They are not blue or green either. I was dead wrong. Her eyes, they are...violet! Never before have I ever seen eyes so beautiful. Never before have I ever heard of a person having violet eyes! Wow!             "What?" Elena says harshly.             I jerk back astonished by the sound of her voice. What just happened? Why is she angry?             "Why are you guys looking at me as if I am an alien?!" She yells.             Oh. She is mad at the way we were looking at her. That is understandable. I suppose a lot of people generally don't enjoy people staring at them.             "Uhm, sorry. But your eyes..." I begin before she cuts me off.             "What about them?" She growls making me take another step back. What is going on? Just a second ago she was a scared teenage girl and now it is like she's mad at us for simply existing.             "She's turning..." Lydia whispers.             I turn around quickly to face my sister and say, "Turning? Turning into what exactly?" I  cannot believe this. She's becoming immortal and it's all my fault. If I had just caught that bastard sooner.             "Something that has never existed before." Lydia whispers and turns around and walks out.              What?! What does she mean something that has never existed before? How is this possible?
