Bloodlust

Isa groaned when she recognized the voice behind her. The whole point of transferring to the academy was to keep a low profile. Isa screwed all that up when she put a knife to Jack's throat. "Do you two know each other?" Isa swiveled in her seat, her eyes meeting Jack's, the challenge clear from the other side of the cafeteria. "Yes." "No." They both answered together, making Buffy give them both her signature Queen Bee glare. Though to Isa, it was like a bunny trying to give her a death stare—more cute than life-threatening. "Of course we know each other. I didn’t know it was possible to forget me, pumpkin, especially after all the fun we had together." Isa stood, flattened her school skirt, and stepped closer to Jack. She placed a soft hand on his cheek, grinning when he flinched in disgust. Buffy didn’t notice the flinch and almost exploded beside him. "All those precious moments we spent together, and just like that, you forget about me." "What are you doing?" Jack’s voice came out as a whisper. Isa was surprised by the quietness of his question. Jack slowly raised his hand to remove hers from his face, but Isa grabbed his hand and pulled their bodies together. Jack shivered when Isa breathed down his neck. She could smell his fear mixed with sweat, and it was thrilling. It was the twenty-first century, and inter-species relationships were still illegal. Hybrid children were almost extinct because of this law. But young people will be young; experimentation still happened. Everyone tried at least once in their younger years. "If you tell anyone that I’m more than a vampire, I’ll spill your blood on the school walls while your girlfriend watches. Nothing turns me on more than squashing a bug with my boot." Isa pressed a sloppy kiss to Jack’s cheek. "You should come visit me later. You know where my room is. I’d love to watch you grovel at my knees." Isa pushed Jack aside and walked through the sea of students as they parted a path for her. A chill ran up her spine as she locked eyes with a student standing in her way. The chill strengthened when they bumped shoulders, but Isa kept moving until she pushed through the cafeteria doors. As soon as she was out of sight, Isa found an empty hallway and sank to the floor, her back against the wall. Her body was shaking, her palms sweaty, and she was starving. It had been a while since Isa had been this hungry. Being surrounded by walking blood bags only made it worse. She knew she had to feed soon, or she’d risk going on another spree. She’d barely gotten away with one of her killing sprees when Jack the Ripper was roaming. That fiasco had ended with Isa going into another forced sleep cycle. Breathing deeply, she tried to calm her wolf down. Jace had been watching the cafeteria scene from a far corner. He followed her out, sensing she wasn’t as okay as she pretended to be. Sighing, he stuffed his hands in his pockets and stepped into view. "What’s wrong with you?" "I’m hungry." "You were just in the cafeteria." "Not that kind of hungry." Isa’s crimson eyes met Jace’s gaze, and he instantly regretted volunteering for this job. "Get up. I’ll take you to the feeding rooms." "I won’t make it that far." Isa felt unclean. She wanted to scratch at her skin until she was free of her meat suit. Looking back up at Jace, her eyes shifted to a deep orange. "s**t. Fuck." Jace picked Isa up from the floor and kicked open a closet door. He set her down, did a quick security check, then locked the door behind them. Sighing, he swore under his breath and slid his shirt off. "What are you doing?" "Feed. We don’t have time to argue." Jace moved forward. Isa growled, making him jump back in surprise. "Feed. Your father warned me what happens if you lose control." Jace stepped forward again, leaning his head to the side—a sign of submission. Isa moaned, gripping his shoulders firmly before driving her fangs into his neck. Jace let out a cry of pain and a low moan. When Isa felt his heart slow, she pulled away, grabbed his shirt off the floor, and tossed it at him. He snarled as Isa disappeared from the school. At a human bar near the border, Isa fed again. Half an hour later, ten drained bodies sat at her feet. Groaning, Isa made the call for the cleanup crew and walked back to the school. It still wasn’t enough to sedate her frenzy. It was dark by the time she returned to her dorm. There was no sign of Jace. Isa stood outside his door for a moment before retreating to her room. He would need to feed to replenish the blood he’d lost. After showering off the dirt and blood, Isa reentered her room to find a slouched figure on her bed. "You reek of death." Isa rolled her eyes and flipped on the light, revealing a disheveled Jack. She wasn’t in the mood for his games. "Does squashing bugs really turn you on?" Isa froze, gripping the towel wrapped around her body. What a strange question to ask a half-naked woman. "That’s disgusting. Though there aren’t enough studies on hybrids to confirm or deny." Jack pushed himself off the bed and moved toward her. Isa backed up until her spine hit the wall, and Jack pinned her in place. "What do you want, Jack? I’m not in the mood for games." "I want to know what you taste like. I’ve been with almost every night creature. Never thought a hybrid would fall into my lap." "I’m thousands of years old. What makes you think you can handle me?"
