I do not act quickly, instead I stand there watching this young man breath. Is this a trap? He is bleeding from his side, but I can’t see how bad it is from here. I decided I should try, I grab my charm and walking slowly towards him. When I get close, something strange happens, my charm tingles, it doesn’t do anything else but tingle in my hand. Normally if there is evil around my charm glows green and a powerful surge escapes it. I have never encountered a time it just tingled. When I bend down to look at his wound, my charm slightly glows and I back away. Scared now, I look around franticly, for any movement. Everything is still, I hear nothing, not even the birds are chirping. The silence gives me a chill, the wind starts blowing and before I know it the sight in front of me changes.
It's black, all I see is darkness. There is nothing around to help me when I hear a voice, faint but clear. “Help him. If you do not this will be your fate.” A voice in the wind says and before I can respond I’m twisting and turning through time, I see myself and my mom, our whole coven is there. We are fighting, it’s like a battle I have never seen before. My mom throwing the attackers left and right while she guides us to the other side. My coven being picked off one by one, the attackers never stopping. That’s when I feel it, dark magic. It leaves a thick fog in the air around us, the woman standing with her weapon pointed at my mom. She attacks us with so much force the rest of us are left staggering, she separates my mom from the rest of us and before I can do anything to stop her, I see her sink the blade into my mom’s chest. I react instantly and attack her with a power I have never seen before, over and over I throw balls of fire at her, the wind blows with every ball I throw at her. I think I’ve won as I walk to my mom. Distracted for a moment this is all the time the woman needs as she throws her knife at my neck. I fell to the ground bleeding. I look to the sky and then the vision goes black. I am tossed through time again and brought back to reality.
When I come too, I fall to the ground. My knees catching my fall and I look up. There is a storm brewing, the sky is dark and the wind is swooshing all around me. I take a deep breath and go to the man still unconscious. My charm tingles again but this time I do not fear it. The vision I saw must have been from the ancestors, and the voice I heard was of my late grandmother. I trusted her with my life when she was alive, why should it change since she is no longer here. I bend down and move the mans arm my charm glows and I see this purple dust expel itself from the wound and his eyes flutter open and jolts up and it startles me so much that I fall back on my hands. I scoot away with a worried look and his eyes find me.
He looks to his wound and back to me, “Thank you.” He says he tries to get up when I notice the deep gash in his leg, I was so focused on being scared that I didn’t even see it. He cries out in pain and I instinctively go to him.
“I’m Peter.” He says in between breaths.
“I figured if we were going to get up close in personal you should know my name.” he chuckles then sighs as he grabs his side.
“Clara.. I’m Clara.” I stuttered while trying to assess his wounds. If I could only heal when I wanted to then I could just heal him, and he would be on his way.
“I have to stop the bleeding, or you will bleed out and die. Your side is your biggest wound and it will become deadly very fast if we do not act accordingly.” I surprise myself sounding so confident and sure of myself.
“Trust me.” I say as I he gives me a confused look. I close my eyes and concentrate. The blue orbs stay still as I try to call it out, I feel my magic flowing through my body right when I think I have it hear his shallow breaths. I open my eyes and see his color fading and his lips turning blue. I have no time; I throw his arm over me, and I lift him up. He is very easy to carry, I’m not sure if it’s because I’m scared of losing him, or the vision I seen coming to life. Either way I move as quickly as I can. The rain comes as I approach the cloak. I yell out for help and two warlocks come to help. I wasn’t sure if he would be able to get through, but he did. I sigh in relief.
“Take him to the medical building, quickly!” I yell over the thunder and lightning. We make our way there and they place him inside. “Find my mother! Hurry!” I yelled frantically. I rush around the small space and grab anything that could help stop the bleeding.
I go to him and cut the sides of his pants and shirt. The wounds are bleeding heavily. I place gauze on his side and move to his leg. And then I tightly wrapped the bandage around his leg. Look at the gauze it’s already soaked, I replace it and hold it down. I try to focus and heal him but it’s no use the more I try the more it seems impossible.
My mom comes rushing in then and takes over. “Who is he?” she asks me as she and Darla work.
“His name is Peter, I stumbled across him when I went for a walk..” I trail off not wanting to tell her I was in the woods alone.
Her eyes shoot to me and back to what she is doing, “Where?”
“HUH?” I say trying to distract her.
“Do not play games with me Clara! Where did you take this walk, where you stumbled across a half dead man.”
“Peter.” I say.
“Ok, Peter. Where?”
“Mom, I was just frustrated with not being able to call my powers, I was only out there for a little while. And….and if I didn’t go out there who knows what would have happened to him.” She mumbles something under her breath.
“I told you to stay out of the woods! I told you it wasn’t safe right now, and you went out there because you were frustrated??? What if who ever did this is still out there? What if something happened to you?” She looks at me now with worry and anger.
“I’m sorry, I will not go out there again. But mom, something-..”
She cut me off. “Stay here, we need to run to get supplies.” She takes off out the door.
I walk up to Peter and touch his hand, my hand glows with the healing magic within me. I am startled, I did not even call it forth, and here it is. I close my eyes and focus on him; I feel it flow through him but it’s not strong enough. I see and feel it healing some of his injuries. He wakes up with a gasp. I startled backwards and look up to him. He is smiling at me weakly.
“I’m sorry, I am not strong enough. I do not even know how it works yet.”
He reaches out and touches my hand, “I already feel better.” He coughs and I shake my head and laugh.
“I have an active power too. The power to amplify magic. I can also conjure energy balls. It’s cooler than it sounds.” He chuckles and coughs up some blood. I grab the cloth and wipe his mouth. “If you allow me to, I can amplify your magic with mine and you can heal me completely.” he says under hushed breath. I have never heard of such a thing but I look at his face and I am afraid if I don’t do this he won’t make it. The vision floats in my head again.
“Ok.” I say as I take his hand. He closes his eyes mumbling something and so I close my eyes too focusing on my magic. I see it, his orb crossing with mine, it becomes bigger, stronger, more powerful. I pull it towards me and it comes willingly, I feel it, the healing power flowing through me and into him. I hear his breathing even out and his heartbeat becomes stronger. I feel invisible, connected to him like bees to flowers. And then it was gone. I open my eyes smiling as I look at him and he already looks better. My mother comes in then, she looks from him to me and back to him. “Oh my, Clara? Did you do this?” she asks dumbfounded. I look at him and he shakes his head slightly, not wanting me to tell her what had happened.
“Yes. I healed him!”
