Childhood was anything but easy for Randy, not that he was ever one to complain or feel sorry for himself. Being born into an extreme polygamous Mormon family living in a desert compound in southern Utah, he was used to tough circumstances and even tougher love from his hard-bitten patriarchal Father and his overworked and dominated Sister-Mothers. Theirs was an unforgiving world in which even young children were expected to work hard and never complain, and where the smallest of infractions merited corporal punishment.
