Emily's phone buzzed on her nightstand. She hesitated before answering.
"Mom?" She called out slowly.
"Emily, sweetie, did you do it?" her mother asked, concern lacing her voice.
"Yes, Mom. I lied about Lucas," she confessed, taking a deep breath.
"It's not even measurable to what he did to brother," she added, trying to justify her actions.
