Feeling the air squeezed from my lungs, Laura finished her lacing. My freshly curled hazel coloured hair draped elegantly over my shoulders. Half of it was done up in the back to a point for my veil. And my make up, expertly done made my eyes sparkle and my face luminous. Course the gore element to my look is quite a rock to swallow.
“You look gorgeous Miss.Millbank” Laura cooed.
Jenny nodded in agreement. “Simply lovely”
Taking a breath I managed a smile. “Thanks you guys. That means a lot to me”
Laura took me by the hand and led me beside the bed where I sat, while Jenny helped me slip on my shoes. Two white silk heels although no one will see them, they match my dress perfectly, First she slipped on the left,
“You're so lucky you know, finding true love so young.” Jenny sighed, continuing with my next shoe. “I just hope one day I should be so lucky to find a guy like him”
“Me to.” Laura agreed, helping me stand. I fussed with my hair again in the mirror.
“Yea its great.” I sighed. “There is a veil right?” I asked, searching for a change in subject, “oh yes, one sec” Laura rushed to the closet before returning with a long elegant veil, its edges laced with images of white roses and thankfully, no blood in sight.
Carefully, she placed it on my head instantly adding a whole new layer to my appearance. The image in the mirror made my heart skip. Now I truly feel like a bride.
This is real, this is happening. In just a few hours Im going to be Mrs.Vonrough.
My heart continued to flutter and she added the final touch, a glittering diamond necklace clasped around my neck like a dream.
To my suprise, the cold sting of a tear escaped the corner of my eye. “Damn it” I hissed. Dabbing at it gently for fear of ruining my make up.
“You alright?” Laura asked, so quietly I almost didn't hear. Quickly I nodded, wiping away the last of it on the back of my hand, careful of my makeup.
“Common lets go show Amber huh?”
Managing a smile I followed them out, heels clicking quietly. “Oh damn girl.” Amber clapped before raising her hands as if in defence.
“Open wounds and blood splatter aside. You look absolutely perfect. He is one lucky guy”
“Thank you” I mumbled, fingers fidgeting with the fabric. “What time is it?”
Jenny checked her phone just as I began to search for my own. “Dinner should be starting in 20 minutes”
Laura quickly checked herself in the mirror. “The ceremony is right after dinner so thank goodness we're all ready.” My heart thumped nervously at the thought. How can I possibly think about food? My stomach twisted and turned, feeling pre chewed bubblegum.
The butterflies, desperate to escape.
Amber raised a brow and she put on her own shoes. “You feeling alright? You're looking a little sick.”
Not wanting to get into anything, I managed a smile.
“Just nervous”
Jenny carefully tied back her hair in the mirror.
“I would be to, there going to be about two thousand people there tonight, atleast”
“That’s crazy,” I gasped.
“Not anymore crazy than looking like you were hit by a car on your wedding day.” Amber chuckled, earning her a smoldering side glare from me. “Sorry” she mumbled.
“I'd marry him even if I was in a chicken suit. I love him”
looking away, she only shrugged.
“Never said you didn't” For a moment the desire to break her nose itched at my hands. Taking a deep breath, I calmed myself.
“Look, let's just go. Were going to be late” I grumbled, starting for the door. Without another word they all followed behind as I headed for the banquet hall.
Passing by the bar, I noticed The lights were out and Morgan was nowhere to be seen.
“Must be getting ready for tonight”
Moments later the banquet hall was up ahead. All sorts of people in all sorts of costumes flooded in through the doors. As I entered, a spotlight shone from above. The light nearly blinded me. I shielded my eye with my arm. “And there she is folks. My beautiful bride.”
Managing to look up, Liam was on stage. Standing next to what I assume is the Captain due to the vampire getup. “Common up here princess!” Liam called, making my cheeks flush as the hundreds of people around me turned and stared.
Possessed by the situation, I started for the stage. My blood stained trane dragging behind me. The lights burned my eyes, the crows murmurs echoed in my head all seemed to fall away when my eyes met with him. Taking his offered hand, he helped me on stage. Now on display for everyone to see. I waved nervously.
“Now-“ He started. Taking my hand he intertwined his fingers with mine. “Some people say, its bad luck to see the bride before the ceremony” Pulling me close, his arm draped around my hips.
“But what I see before me, I will never consider to be bad luck. Isn't she lovely everyone?”
The crowd before me clapped and cheered, making my cheeks flush. I've been in front of large crowds like this but never dressed like this. Covered in fake blood.
But atleast I dont completely stand out like a sore thumb. In the crowd are superheros, witches, sexy doctors and every type of costume Anyone could think of. But It doesn't make me feel any less embarrassed.
“And in just over and hour now I'm going to have the privilege of calling this enchanting woman my wife!”
His passion is overwhelming as he raises his glass.
The vampire capitan behind me, raised his glass as well leading the whole room following suit. From behind there was a soft tap on my shoulder. To my surprise it was Morgan, bent at the waist as he held to me my drink for the toast. Before I could even take another breath to speak to him, he left.
Liam used his arm to nudge me towards him. His glass was held to me for the toast. With a nervous smile we clinked glasses, the repeating sound rang through the room and hundreds of others did the same.
