“Help me find it and stop asking me questions!”

“Yes. But, I….I don’t even know where to start from.”

“Maybe it’s in the backyard. Yeah, I went there in the morning.”

“Okay. I’ll go there.”

“Wait. You can also search for the living room. I’ll check in rooms.”

“Yes, mom. I’ll go now.”

Then they went to look for it.

Mr Garvey was still looking at the key he had just picked.

“Where can I use you? What are you hiding?”

Then he started searching all over the room.

Megan went into the living room to look for the key. Tyler was also there.

She started searching under the chairs and tables. Tyler looked at her.

“Is everything okay, Megan?”

“Please don’t bother. I’m busy right now.” She said while kneeling down, checking under a chair.

“Well, I thought I could help.”

“Tyler, please.”

“Fine. Then do it alone.

Then Megan sat upright and looked at him. She sighed and said, “Alright, then. Have you seen a tiny silver key?”

“You said you didn’t want me to bother. So, I guess that’s what I’m going to do.”

“Tyler.”

“What? Come on. I was just joking.” He said while laughing.

“Well, I ain’t got time for jokes right now.”

“Sorry, then.”

Megan looked at him and then she smiled. “It’s okay.”

“And, what did you ask for?”

“Have you seen a tiny key?”

“No.”

“Gosh! We’re doomed!”

“Who’s doomed?”

“Oh. No. Just forget it.”

“Okay. As you wish.”

“I’ll just go look for that key in the back yard. Probably, it’s there.”

“Call me if you need any help.”

“I will.” Then she went out.

Mrs Garvey went into her room to look for it. Mr Garvey was sitting on the bed. He looked at her and smiled. She got confused.

“Is everything alright?” She asked him.

“Yes. I guess that this smile proves it.”

“Okay.”

“Have you lost anything?”

“What do you mean?”

“You heard me.”

“No. I’m……..I’m just confused. Yes. I’ve lost a key.”

Then Mr Garvey opened his fist. He was holding the key.

Mrs Garvey widened her eyes. “Oh. So, you……….I’ve been looking for it and…….Where did you find it?”

“It was on the floor. Why does it look like a problem if I found it?”

“No. I’m actually happy you got it.”

Then he gave it to her.

“Thank you. I’ll now go.”

She went to the door.

“Wait.”

Then she turned around to him. “Is there anything else you want to tell me?”

“Why don’t you first make sure that everything is safe? I mean…….. Where that key opens.”

“Well….”

“It’s better if you check.”

“Yes. You’re right.”

She went where the money was and she opened it. Then she closed again.

“Everything is in.”

“That’s good. So, what’s that for?”

“Oh. You mean what?”“The money.”

Mrs. Garvey became more worried and said, “Well, this money is from my savings.”

“But it wasn’t there before I went into town.” Then he stood up. “Am I right or not?”

“Well……..You know that…..Yes. It’s because I have a bank account.”

“Why did you suddenly decide to bring it here? Where are you hiding the money from Nora?”

“Of course not. Why would I?”

“Then why did you bring it here?”

“Because I think it’s safe for me.”

“But you'd almost lost the key if I had been there to find it.”

“I’ll learn from my mistakes then. Why are you talking to me as if I’ve done something guilty?”

“Do you think I’m wrong?”

“What do you mean?”

“Aren’t you guilty?”

“Listen. Right now you’re really confusing me.”

“No, I’m not. You know exactly what I’m talking about.”

Mrs Garvey kept quiet.

“Why aren’t you saying anything?”

“What do you want me to say?”

“Tell me your plans.”

“What are you talking about?”

“Where is my daughter?”

“Why are you asking me that question?”

“Because I know you really have something to do with that case.”

“Then take it the way you want.”

“I don’t have time to play jokes with you.”

“So, you think that I kidn*pped her?”

“Don’t interrogate me.”

“I really don’t know what you are talking about.”

“You know what I’m talking about.”

“No I don’t.”

“Okay. All I know is that I’ll find out.”

Then he went out of the room.

Mrs Garvey stayed there. She started thinking of what to do.

“What am I going to do? Oh no!” She gasped. “He’s gonna tell this to Tyler and this will ruin Megan’s plans to marry him. No. I must find a way to lie to him. I’ll stop him.” Then she ran out of the room behind him.

“Wait.”

He stopped. “What?”

“I’ll tell you everything.”

“The money.”“You don’t need to.” He showed her a card. “I know where to find her.”

Mrs Garvey gasped. It was the address of where Nora was.

“I couldn’t go out with anything. And about what you did……..we will go through it when she’s back. Now let me go give this to the police so that they can find her.”

“Please don’t…….”

“Don’t what? You have nothing to tell me right now.”

“Don’t tell this to Tyler.”

“Why?”

“I know I’ve never been a good wife. But please don’t do this to Megan.”

“If she can’t learn from her mistakes, how will I help?”

“No. She did nothing. I did this. Just don’t tell this to Tyler for the sake of your daughter.”

Then Mr Garvey turned away and went.

Mrs. Garvey became more worried and said, “Well, this money is from my savings.”

“But it wasn’t there before I went into town.” Then he stood up. “Am I right or not?”

“Well……..You know that…..Yes. It’s because I have a bank account.”

“Why did you suddenly decide to bring it here? Where are you hiding the money from Nora?”

“Of course not. Why would I?”

“Then why did you bring it here?”

“Because I think it’s safe for me.”

Then he went out of the room.

Mrs Garvey stayed there. She started thinking of what to do.

“Don’t what? You have nothing to tell me right now.”

“Don’t tell this to Tyler.”

“Why?”

“I know I’ve never been a good wife. But please don’t do this to Megan.”

“No. She did nothing. I did this. Just don’t tell this to Tyler for the sake of your daughter.”

Then Mr Garvey turned away and went. When he went outside his room, he met Tyler and stopped.

“Hey, Tyler.”

“Oh. Mr Garvey, what’s with the hurry?”

“Guess what I have got now.”

“What is it?”

“I know where I can find my daughter.”

“What? How did you…….. How’s that even possible?”

“Let’s not talk about that right now.”

“You’re going to look for her now?”

“So what? What should we wait for?”

“Mr Garvey, you don’t have to go. Maybe the place is not safe.”

“Listen, I don’t what to tell you right now. All I know is that I have to get my daughter back.”

“Mr Garvey-“

“Tyler, please. “

“Okay. Let me go there with the police.”

“What? You want me to risk your life?”

“No, Mr Garvey. I want to help. I can do this. All you have to do is tell me where I can find her.”

“Tyler, don’t even try to think about that.”

“Please. Let me do that. I’m begging you. I’m old enough. How can you say that I’ll be risking my life?”

Then Mr Garvey saw that nothing could stop Tyler from going. He thought about it for awhile. After that, he sighed and said,

“Go there.” He said, giving him the card.

Tyler took it and looked at it. “Really?”

“Go bring my daughter home. That’s where you can find her.”

“Okay. Thanks for giving me that chance. Gotta go.”

Then he hurried out and drove Mr Garvey’s car.

Nora was still stuck in that room thinking about what to do.

“I must get out of this place in no time. But where do I start from?”

Suddenly, a man entered and held her mouth, stopping her from talking.

“Don’t you dare say a word or even shout. We’re going to humbly get out of this room before the police see us. Understand?”

Nora nodded but she was crying. When they were about to get out, she tried to escape but the man got his knife and held it to her neck.

“Do you think you can get away so easily? Now try.”

They went out quietly. Before they went so far, someone came behind them and punched the man. He fell down and closed his eyes.

Nora turned to see who it was. Tyler was standing behind her.

“Tyler!”

She hugged him.

“Don’t worry about anything now. You’re safe.”

“I know. I know. But where have you been guys? What took you so long?”

“We were still looking for you. Come on. Let’s go home.”

He took his hand and went to the car. Then they rode away.

At home, Mr Garvey was in the living room waiting impatiently, walking all around it. Megan came by. When he saw her, he hurried to her. She stopped and looked at him.

“Dad?”

“Did you know?”

“Know what?”

“Stop asking what you know. You knew where Nora was, right?”

She nodded.

“Why? Why did you let that happen?”

“I had no choice, dad.”

“You chose to hurt your sister. What didn’t I do for you to betray me that way?”

“Seriously, dad? Can’t believe you’re asking that question! You should have asked what you did for me in my whole life.”

“So you took your revenge?”

“No father. That wasn’t my idea. Well, father, I can never think of helping you if you don’t. But I still have hope that you’ll recognize me once. I’m really sorry for not telling you where she was. Now you know what happened. Are you going to tell this to Tyler? Please, dad. Don’t do that if I’m your daughter.”

Then she walked away.

At that moment, Tyler entered the house. Mr Garvey ran to him. Nora came out from behind him and ran to hug her father.

“Missed you, father. I was so scared.” She said while crying.

“It’s over, Nora. You don’t have to fear anything now. That won’t happen again.”

Mrs Garvey came into the living room. Nora looked at her. Then she ran and hugged her.

“I missed you too, mother. I’m happy to see you again.”

Mrs Garvey became confused and didn’t know what to say.

“I….I……Well, I’m…….happy. Yeah. I’m glad you’re back.”

The others stood there confused and surprised. They all stared at the two of them in silence. Nora turned and saw them staring at her.

“What’s wrong with you guys? Why are you staring at me?”

Then Mr Garvey smiled at her and said, “Of course not. We’re just happy you’re back.” He turned at Tyler. “Right, Tyler?”

“Yeah.”

Suddenly, Megan came into the living room. Nora saw her and ran to hug her too.

“Missed you too, sis.”

Megan looked really surprised. She didn’t know what to say

“I….I……Well, I’m…….happy. Yeah. I’m glad you’re back.”

The others stood there confused and surprised. They all stared at the two of them in silence. Nora turned and saw them staring at her.

“What’s wrong with you guys? Why are you staring at me?”

Then Mr Garvey smiled at her and said, “Of course not. We’re just happy you’re back.” He turned at Tyler. “Right, Tyler?”

“Yeah.”

Suddenly, Megan came into the living room. Nora saw her and ran to hug her too.

“Missed you too, sis.”

Megan looked really surprised. She didn’t know what to say.

Nora let her go.

“I’ll be going to my room for a while.”

Then she turned and went into her room. She sat on her bed and looked outside the window. Then she smiled and said:

“Yeah. I know lying is a sin but I had to do this so that I couldn’t ruin our family. Instead, I made it better. Well, mother and Megan think that I know nothing about how they sold me but they are wrong. I know everything.”

That happened. Nora came out of her room after she finished bathing and went into the kitchen to have dinner with others.

“Nora, I’m pretty sure you might have felt hungry. Am I right?” Her father asked.

“Can’t believe you’re even asking me that question, father. Of course, I never ate in that place. I mean…………..It’s not even a place I could call a normal place, I was in hell.”

Then Tyler shook his head sadly and said, “They might have treated you very badly.”

“It was more than bad, Tyler.” Then she sighed. “Actually, it’ll be better if we don’t talk about it.”

“Okay. As you wish, Nora. We know that it has been a hard time for you over there.”

“Yeah.” She replied silently.

“So, what can we help so that you can feel better?” Megan asked.

Nora looked at her surprisingly. Then she smiled. “Don’t worry sis. I’ll be fine. I just need to go to sleep.” She stood up and went.

Tyler stood up and went after her. He entered her room. Nora was sitting on her bed.

“Oh. Hey, Tyler.”

“Hey, Nora. How are you doing?”

“I’m feeling better. But don’t freak out guys. It’s not like anything happened to me. I’m not gonna die. I’m alright.”

Tyler smiled and went to sit next to her. “Well, you’re trying to help us feel better but it’s you who has to feel better.”

Nora looked at him and said, “What do you mean by that?”

“You think that you’re being a burden to us because of your situation.”

“But I’m okay.”

“Yes you are, but all we’re doing is to make you feel better. Just let us do it, okay?”

“Well, you can. But don’t be so stuck in this.”

“Or is this because Megan and your mother seem to worry too?”

Nora looked at him and said nothing.

“Nora? I’m talking to you. Come on. Don’t just keep quiet.”

“Better not talk about it.”

“I guess you should be happy because they even care.”

Then she gave him a smile and said, “Well I am.”

“I really missed you when you were there.”

“Yeah. I’m sure you did.”

“Hhhhh. Why me? It’s as if you don’t believe others did.”

“No. I know they did. So, how did it go? Did you catch up with Megan or was it hard?”

“Oh. She’s actually gorgeous. She was there when you weren’t. You’re all the same, I guess.”

Nora gasped.

“What is wrong?” Tyler asked her.

“No. Emmh…….It’s nothing. I am actually glad that you were able to be with her.”

“Oh. Okay. So, I think you need to rest.”

“Yeah. That’s right.”

“I’ll go check on the others.”

“Okay. Good night.”

“Yeah. Sleep tight.”

Then he stood up. When he reached the door, Nora called him and she said, “Thanks for everything, Tyler.”

“Oh. My pleasure, Nora.”

Then he went out of the room.

After a while, when everyone was asleep, Tyler was in his room and couldn’t sleep. He woke up and went into the kitchen to drink something and cool himself down. After awhile, he heard a knock on the window behind him. He turned to look and saw his mother outside. He gasped and took a step back.

“Mom?” He went to the window and opened it. “What are you doing here?”

“Well, I’m here to warn you.”

“What do you mean?”“You’re falling.” Then she disappeared.

Tyler ran to the window, “Wait! Mom!”

He suddenly heard someone open a door.”Oh. That was too loud!” He whispered quietly while touching his mouth.

Megan entered the kitchen.

“Oh. Megan, what’s wrong? Why are you awake?”

“I thought I heard someone’s voice in here.”

“Really? I was the only one here. How come you heard someone’s voice when I was the only one here?”

“Oh. Then I was mistaken. So, why are you awake?”

“Well, I couldn’t sleep.”

“Really? I guess we’re the same.”

“Oh. What a coincidence!”

“So, what stopped you from sleeping?”

“It’s nothing. I just felt uneasy.”

“Actually, Tyler, if you need any help or anyone to be with, I’ll always be here for you.”

“Oh. That’s too much of you. The way you care about me is enough. Even welcoming me to your house was enough.”

“Tyler, we’re your family. Consider that too.”

Then he smiled. “I guess you and your sister are the same.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“Well, you’re all so caring even in times people don’t need.”

“Yeah. I think that you mean when people don’t seem as if they need not, when they don’t really need them.”

“Hmmmm…….Something like that.”

“Glad we’re the same, then. I actually couldn’t sleep because I was really worried about her.”

“You don’t have to. She’s fine and safe with us now.”

“You think so?”

“Yup.”

“Well, I’m not sure.”

“Megan, please don’t feel that way. If she’s aware that you’re worried about her to that extent, she won’t like it.”

“Okay. I won’t show it to her.”

“Good. But it’s really late. Why don’t you go back to sleep?”

“You going back there too?”

“Well, I………” He looked outside the window.” Well, I’m…….also going back there.”

Then Megan looked at the window.” Why is the window open?”

“Oh. I…..I had to get some fresh air since I felt uneasy.”

“Really? Why don’t you first take a cool drink before going back to sleep?”

“I already had one before you came.”

“Okay. That’s good.”

“So, have a good night. I’m going to sleep.”

“Yeah. Sleep tight, Tyler.”

Then he went. Immediately after he went, Megan went to the window and looked out. Then she said quietly, “What’s going on out here? I don’t think it’s just the fresh air you were looking for. There’s something else.”

“Hey, devil,” said a scary, chilling voice from the bushes outside.

Megan became cold inside after hearing the voice. She closed the window and hurried back to her room.

When everyone was now asleep, Tyler’s mother reappeared outside the window. “I’m coming for you, Megan.” She hissed.
