Death of her father

Crisis tends to nourish Nammu's head often. She knew how to handle those burnt days. When she was at the age of sixteen, she sensed anomaly in some stuffs. Her senior sister Rita was married to next country. The big reason was grandfather wanted to settle in that country where her daughter used to. He wanted to adjoin hybrid culture but little did he know it will bring worst rhapsody in their family life. Rita was married and the responsibility of five daughters along with one son was not an easy cake for raising at that time. Nammu"s father used to work in a city bank and he tries to meet the end of every children. But things were worsening day by day. Nammu although had visited those city scapes but she felt too bad for her father. He used to eat boiled potatoes and rice hardly to burn the hunger. She felt what is the definition of scarcity here? She manage to restore her emotions and came back to home. The month of March after the end of festival Holi (Holi is the festival where all of our well wishers gather and put colors and splashing water over each other as to say goodbye for winter month) all were sitting together in a frenzy mood of happiness. Suddenly, Nammu's father started coughing unnecessarily which they think as a common cough so they didn't even realize the dark ebony time. The very next day all sprang up listening the tears of their mother and all went to their father's room to see the situation. Their father was lying listless on the bed with no respiration. All dazed up in confusing faces laced up in a thoughts how, why etc until and unless family doctor came to their home to check out the situation. He hopelessness shed his words that he had a heart attack and this wasnot the first time. Bedazzled everyone like a dark cloud started raining heavily like cats and dogs. Some felt bamboozled where Sondesh three year kid, Somita five-year kid and Shashi four year kid stare as numb as the coldest tombstone. Nammu's mother and her brother went together for death ritual. Who had imagined a little one have to see this fatigue moment of life death! They completed and came back to home. The ugliest truth was all were there calm and composed except Nammu's mother. She walked down to the aisle of cemetery to shed her emotions and Nammu went behind her as she felt the clasping thoughts that she doesn't want her mother to do anything wrong. She hold her mother's hand that she had left her world behind, and she cannot do lame excuses with their three milk tooth kids. She asked Nammu,"Why the hell I didn't resist giving birth to so many children?" How I will raise Nammu?" How? 16 year child mature her voice and tell her mother that she will work to lessen her mother burden. She locked her all dreams under her groin and hold her mother hand. When she came back to home, one staff member of bank was there in his anxious look. He couldn't see the aghast situation of this family and he gave one paper to Nammu saying, "Not to worry, Nammu I know money cannot recompensate all things your mother will get job there in our bank and we will help you financially when things are unsettled, ease now and let us know what preparation we can do!" Nammu pay heed to his words and they completed their thirteen day rituals. Now her mother was not same as before, her mother cladded in a white sari with no any accessories shrank the heart of their children. Tears were streaming seeing her. But things were turning U turn radius. They had to left their ancestral home as her mother had to attend office. Their toys, their childhood memories chipped into asphalt to begin new chapter of life and yes they have to be mentally ready for that. New city scrapers, new people, new language hardens the faces of Nammu Family. The list of ordeals faced by Nammu's mother for not knowing the financial accounts as she had read upto grade five and the red flags of warning was making her life uncomfortable. She used to live wearing the veil in her village area and she was not used to uncover her face and walking like a free woman. Some of the pathetic eyes of staff members and disciplinarian boss had pressed her life into new rotation of 360 degree and yes she have to accept that theory to change the lives of her family. Nammu on the other way, started to teach coaching classes for small children as her middle sister was reading at the hostel and she was the only one to see four siblings of her family. Her mother used to work 8a.m. to 6pm.and she started attuning her responsibilities by studying her morning classes and taking and receiving Sondesh back to the home making tiffin for all and doing coaching classes for lady kids. Time never brooms throwing it's dust but Nammu carried on heaping all the weeds and making things into greener grass.
