Courtney's pov;
I knew we arrived at the party because all I could hear was music halfway down the street.
We got out of the car and Ellie immediately found Oli.
"Hey girls." Oli said to me and Ellie. He gave Ellie a kiss, and he hugged me.
"Hey Oli." I smiled and hugged him back.
"ALRIGHT GUYS!" I heard a very loud voice and turned around to see Josh and Alex standing there. They looked really good. Alex was wearing black skinny jeans, with a black t-shirt that had the words 'Drop Dead' written on them.
Josh was wearing dark blue skinny jeans, with a white t-shirt and a leather jacket.
"Hey dude." Oli said to both of them, and they did their weird fist bumping handshake thingy.
They hugged me and Ellie.
"So Courtney, we see you've been getting quite close to Mr O Brien." Alex winked and nudged me. "Yes we all see it." Ellie added whilst wiggling her eyebrows. "Oh ssh you guys. I hardly know the guy." I laughed with them. "But you'd like to know him, wouldn't you." Oli smirked at me. I punched his arm, and he pretended that it hurt, whilst the rest of the group laughed including me.
We decided to actually go inside Lukes house, because we looked stupid just standing outside.
As soon as I walked in the house, the smell of weed and alcohol hit me.
I saw a bunch of teenagers grinding on each other, and a few people making out.
Josh and Alex walked off to chat up some girls, leaving me, Ellie and Oli alone.
"Me and Oli are gonna go get a drink, you coming?" Ellie asked me.
"Um no I'm okay, thankyou." I replied. I don't really want to drink as I've seen the after effects on my older cousins before and it's not very nice. "Okay. Well if you need us, we'll most likely be over at the drinks." Ellie told me, and I nodded before they walked off leaving me alone with a bunch of strangers.
I thought I may as well see if there's any food to eat because I'm hungry and I like food. I started making my way through a bunch of grinding bodies, until I bumped into one, making them spill their drink everywhere.
For f***s sake. I thought to myself. I really need to actually look where I'm going.
"s**t I'm sorry." I said to the stranger. I looked up to see who it was and it was the boy that I leant a pen to in class earlier.
"Hey you're pen boy." I said to him. He looked at me weirdly. "Crap I mean you're the guy I leant a pen to in class earlier." I tried to hide my awkwardness. Pen boy. Smooth move Courtney.
"I am indeed the pen boy." He mocked me, and we both laughed.
"I'm so sorry for bumping into you, I was just trying to find some food, and there's not much room." I blushed awkwardly.
"Hey don't worry about it. But now you're gonna have to come with me to get a new one. And when we've got a new drink, il find some food for you." He smiled warmly, his eyes lighting up. He's so damn cute.
"Okay." I smiled back at him.
He grabbed my wrist to make sure he didn't lose me, and we battled through the web of tangled bodies.
Mystery boy picked up a bottle of beer. "You want one?" He asked me. "Oh no I don't rea-" I stopped, then changed my answer. "Actually yeah go on then." I replied and took one. What harm can one beer do?
"I'm Courtney Williams." I smiled at the cute boy."
"I'm Shawn. Shawn Mendes." Shawn smiled back at me.
Shawn eh? What a cute name for a cute boy.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////
We talked for a good hour or so, and I had more beers than I intended to. But I learnt a lot about Shawn. I learnt that he had 1 younger sister named Madison, and one older brother named Cameron.
His dad left him when he was 3, he likes pop and rap music, he likes the colour blue, and he just recently split up with his girlfriend because she was rude, irritating and whiny.
"We'll that was a rather good chat." Shawn said. "It was." I replied. "Well I'd best be off now. I'll see you around Courtney." And with that he smiled and walked off, and I was left alone with my thoughts yet again.
Suddenly a tall blonde boy made his way to me. He reeked of alcohol.
"Hey there you pretty little thing." He slurred. "Um hi." I replied terrified.
He grabbed hold of my waist and started grinding against me.
"Come on baby grind with me." He said making me feel disgusted.
"Let go of me please." I said, tears threatening to spill.
"No chance. Grind with me and maybe il think about it." He threatened.
I tried to get away, but his grip was too strong.
"Please let go of me, I don't want to dance with you." I cried.
"No. I'm not f*****g letting go of you, so f*****g dance with me you slut." His words spat at me, like they were venomous poison.
"I think she said let f*****g go of her." I heard a voice growl behind the tall blonde boy.
"Oh yeah? And what are you gonna do about it?" The dickhead slurred.
Just then the boy lunged at the dickhead, and started wrestling him to the ground.
I saw who it was.
Dylan.
Dylan threw punches at the dickheads face and said "Don't you f*****g touch her again, or next time you might not make it out alive."
The blonde boy looked generally scared, as blood poured out of his nose.
Dylan got up off the boy, and grabbed my wrist pulling me outside.
"Are you alright?" He asked me with concern in his eyes.
"Yeh I'm okay now. Thankyou so much." I said with tears still spilling out of my eyes.
"Hey ssh, don't worry he can't hurt you now." Dylan comforted me, and pulled me into a hug. His arms wrapped around my fragile waist, and I winced as he did so.
"s**t did he hurt you?" Dylan demanded to know.
"I'm not sure." I sniffled. "But my hips really hurt from where he grabbed me."
Dylan looked pissed. I'm not sure why though. He hardly knew me, so why would he be pissed that someone hurt me? He's probably not mad, I'm just overreacting.
"Right." He finally said. "I'm guessing your ride home is that fiery red head?" He asked me, and I instantly knew he was talking about Ellie.
"I was meant to be sleeping round hers after this party." I said shivering. Dylan took off his jacket and wrapped it around me.
"Well text her and say plans have changed." He simply said.
"What?" I asked confused. "Why would I do that? What?"
"Because I said so. Give me your phone." He insisted.
I was too tired and hurt to argue, so I just gave him my phone.
"What's Ellie called on your phone?" He asked me.
"s*x goddess." I replied. He shot me a strange look. "She changed it earlier this week, blame her." We both laughed.
"Hey Ellie it's Dylan. Courtney's coming back to mine, and she's staying the night there, because some jerk touched her, and now her hips hurt, and I don't want her staying here, and you're gonna be here till god knows what time in the morning." He told Ellie. Coming back to his? What?! I didn't agree to this!
"Yeah she's alright. I beat the guy up. No I didn't learn from you." I heard Dylan say and I smirked.
I heard Ellie shouting down the end of the line. She was shouting, "I SWEAR TO GOD DYLAN IF YOU f**k HER I WILL f*****g KILL YOU BECAUSE ALL YOU DO IS f**k GIRLS AND LEAVE THEM AND THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL IM LETTING YOU LEAVE MY BEST FRIEND BROKEN AND IN PIECES TO THE POINT WHERE NOT EVEN BEN AND JERRYS, AND PIZZA CAN HELP HER." I do love this girl.
"Yeh yeh whatever Fuller, alright bye." He said and hung up.
"Get in the car." He ordered.
I raised one of my eyebrows. Just because he's hot doesn't mean he can tell me what to do.
"Please." He stuck his bottom lip out and batted his eyelids. I smirked and got in the car.
The car journey mostly consisted of me jamming to The 1975 because Dylan likes them as well.
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////
When we got to his house, he got out of his car, and walked round to open the door for me.
"Thankyou." I smiled at him.
I started following him to his house, when I stopped in my tracks.
"Won't your parents be home?" I asked anxiously.
"Nah. My dad's probably out getting drunk or whatever." He said quite bluntly and carried on walking.
I carried on following him, and decided not to push the subject, as it seemed like quite a delicate one.
When we got into his house, I looked around.
It didn't seem like a normal family based house. It didn't have any pictures of Dylan when he was little, no pictures of him and his dad, it seemed quite a lonely house.
"This is gonna sound really pervy, but can I see your hips? I just want to see if there are any bruises forming. I promise I won't try and pull a fast one on you." Dylan spoke, stopping my thoughts. I looked at him and saw concern in his eyes again. I was so confused. Does Dylan really care about me? If he does, then why? He hardly knows me. Actually I hardly know him so I didn't really feel comfortable stripping down in front of him.
"Um-" I started to say, but was interrupted.
"Please. I just want to make sure you're not badly hurt." He practically begged me.
"Okay." I agreed. He motioned for me to follow him up the stairs so I did, and we ended up in him room.
"I'll turn around whilst you take your dress off if you want." Dylan asked me unsure of what to do.
"Okay." I said, and he turned around.
I tried to take it off, and remembered there was a zip.
"Umm Dylan?" I started to say. "I don't suppose you could un-zip the back of my dress for me?" I asked feeling my cheeks heat up.
He chuckled and walked over to me, and un-zipped my dress, he took it over my shoulders, and threw it on the bed.
I suddenly felt self conscious, and picked it up again and attempted to cover myself up with it.
"Hey. I thought you were gonna let me see if you were hurt?" Dylan said his brown orbs staring into my blue ones.
"I just don't like my body." I whispered, but it was loud enough for him to hear.
He slowly took the dress away from me, and looked me up and down.
"You have an amazing body." He whispered.
"s**t. You can see the bruises on your hips. They're really bad Courtney." He said, his eyes filling with worry.
"Don't worry, they'll simmer down soon." I reassured him.
"I'll make sure that nobody hurts you again." Dylan said fully focused on me.
He'll make sure no one hurts me again? What does that mean?
He pulled me closer to him, making sure he didn't hurt me, and stared into my eyes.
He leant in and kissed me.
His lips were so soft. They weren't rough and lustful, they were soft, and it felt like they wanted to live in the moment.
We both pulled away, and I looked at the ground not sure of what to think.
I just kissed Dylan O Brien.
Oh my god.
"Sorry." He said and scratched the back of his neck.
Dylan's pov;
"Sorry." I said and scratched the back of my neck.
"I shouldn't have done that. I'm sorry if you felt like I took advantage of you.
I didn't take advantage of her. I've wanted to kiss her the first day I laid eyes on her in music.
She fascinated me.
The way she's so shy in general, but when she sings and plays the piano, she looks like the most confident person in the world.
She's not like other girls. She's completely different.
But I can't develop feelings for her. I just can't. I've never really been in a proper relationship before, and I'm scared if I end up falling for her, I'll hurt her.
She's just so beautiful.
"Uh are you okay?" She asked me, making me snap out of my thoughts. "You're staring at me." She giggled.
I loved it when she smiled. Her one sided dimple was so adorable.
"Oh uh sorry, I was just thinking." I said awkwardly.
"Is all your stuff at Ellie's?" I asked her.
She nodded.
I walked over to my drawers, picked out a pair of black boxers, and a black Royal Blood t-shirt, and handed them to her.
"Here you can wear these tonight." I said.
"Thankyou." She smiled. "Who are Royal Blood?" She asked me, intrigued to know.
"They're a really good Alternative band. You should listen to them sometime, you might like them. I replied. "I'll go out whilst you change." I added then walked out.
I stood outside my bedroom waiting.
I don't know why I feel the need to protect this girl. I hardly know her! As soon as I sat down next to her that first time in music, I knew there was something so different about her. She wasn't loud or bitchy like all the other girls, and most importantly, she didn't throw herself at me. I was apparently one of the most 'popular' guys in school, and I had girls throwing theirselves at me left right and centre.
"I'm done." I heard Courtney say.
I walked back into the room, and looked her up and down. I couldn't help myself. She looked so cute in my clothes.
"You can sleep in my room if you want, il sleep in the guest bedroom." I said to her.
"No no." She started to protest. "I'll sleep in the guest bedroom, it's fine." She said sweetly.
"No, you sleep in here, my beds much comfier than the one in the guest room, and you need to get a good nights sleep." I replied.
"Hmm well okay then." She said unsure.
"Night 'love'." I used her british word, and winked at her before walking out.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Courtney's pov;
"NO!" I screamed, trying to get away from the mans grip.
"Don't struggle sweetheart, just let it happen." The man smirked at me with evil in his eyes.
"NO NO GET OFF ME!" I screamed again, absolutely terrified.
"HELP!"
I bolted upright in bed breathing heavily.
I looked around.
This isn't my room. I thought and then remembered I was at Dylan's house.
Dylan.
I got up and started to walk to what I assumed was the guest bedroom.
I walked in and saw Dylan sleeping. He looked so adorable when he was sleeping and I regretted waking him up.
"Courtney?" He asked in his husky 'I'm half asleep' voice.
"Yeah, sorry to wake you, I just had a really bad nightmare, I'll go if you want me to." I said suddenly embarrassed and started to walk away.
"No come here." I heard Dylan say and he patted the bed next to him.
I smiled and got in.
He wrapped his arms around me.
"You're safe, no one can hurt you now." He said to me, and for the first time in my life, I actually felt safe.
