Courtney's pov;
It was the night of the dance, and I was already excited.
Ellie had come round mine, so we could get ready together, and Oli and Dylan were going to pick us up at 6:30.
"What's the time?" Ellie asked me as she threw her bag on my bed.
"4:30." I replied.
"Right, so we have 2 hours until the guys come. That's not enough time!" She shrieks.
"Right so stop chatting, and start changing!" I said and threw her dress at her, and she raised an eyebrow.
"You just wanna see me change I bet." She smirks.
"Maybe." I smirk back and we both starting laughing really loud.
Me and Ellie were 100% both straight, but we're best friends so we joke like that all time. Nobody really understands our humour apart from us.
I walk over to my bedroom door and lock it, just in case Zoe or mum decides to burst in on us when we're half naked.
Speaking of Zoe and mum, they came back yesterday, and Zoe met a boy who she swears is 'the one' for her. I just agree with her being as she's 13, he definitely won't be the one for her.
I grab my dress and strip into my underwear.
I look over at Ellie, who's trying desperately to sort her bra out.
"You okay?" I shoot her a weird look.
"Yeah, just trying to make my boobs at least look like boobs." She replied.
Bless her, she doesn't have the biggest of boobs, but I always tell her she's lucky that they're not in the way.
I slip my beautiful dress over my head, and smile at my reflection.
Ellie was right.
This dress really suited me, and I actually liked myself in it, which was a first.
"Oh my god you look so much better than me!" Ellie whined.
"Oh shut up, you look beautiful." I reply, and throw a pillow at her.
"Hey!" She said and threw one back.
We continued beating each other up with pillows until hands from behind grabbed me, causing me to scream.
It was Dylan.
"Dylan!" I exclaim and hug him.
"Is it 6:30 already?!" I ask.
"Yeh babe, me and Oli didn't feel like knocking so we climbed the tree." He grinned at Oli who was cradling Ellie.
"OH MY GOD, GET OUT!" Ellie suddenly jumped away from Oli's grasp, causing him to jump.
"You're not allowed to see us until we're properly dressed!" She shouted and hurried them out.
Dylan's pov;
Me and Oli have been sitting downstairs with Courtney's sister and mum for about 20 minutes now.
"Why do girls take so damn long to get dressed?" I said to Oli.
"No idea mate. That's exactly what I was just thinking." He replied.
"Dylan?" A voice called behind me and I turned around to see who it was.
It was Zoe.
"Yes Zoe?" I asked, wondering what she was going to say.
"Please don't hurt my sister. She's been hurt by a boy before and it was horrible. She cried herself to sleep every night, and It was awful. That's why she has that scar-" She was saying until she was interrupted.
"That's enough now Zo, that's Courtney's business, not yours." Her mum smiled warmly at her.
"Oh right yeah. Well just please don't hurt her." She said.
"I will never hurt Courtney." I smiled at Zoe. I loved how she was so caring and kind.
I was confused though. What does she mean by scar? I haven't seen a scar on her body before.
Just then I saw Courtney walking down the stairs, which stopped my thoughts.
Jesus f*****g Christ.
She looked so f*****g perfect.
I was so lucky to have such a beautiful girlfriend like her.
She was wearing a baby pink dress that flowed just above her knee, her hair was running down her back in a plait with a few flowers in it, she had done her nails pink to match her dress, and little black heels.
I felt my pants grow tighter, and I held my jacket in front of it so no one would notice.
Next to Courtney, stood Ellie, who was wearing a navy blue dress with long lace arms, which also flowed just above her knee, she had curled her short red hair, and she was also wearing black heels.
She also looked very nice, but not as good as Courtney did.
Oli must have thought Ellie looked good because he had the same look on his face, as I did with Courtney.
I was speechless.
"You erm, you look so beautiful." I whispered to Courtney.
I couldn't get my words out any louder, because I truly was breathless.
She heard me though, and thanked me whilst blushing.
"You also look very gorgeous." She said, as her eyes kept flickering down to my lips.
I saw her look me up and down and I smirked.
"Checking me out I see."
"Yeah I was. Your legs look sexy in those jeans." She whispered and I was taken aback by her choice of words.
God I wanted her so bad.
"Can we go and get this dance over and done with so I can rip off that f*****g beautiful dress of yours." I whispered and she smirked.
"We're gonna go now mum, so I'll see you later." She gave her mum a goodbye kiss, and grabbed my hand.
"Okay sweetie, have fun! Bye Dylan! Bye Ellie! Bye Oli, it was nice meeting you dear." She said as we walked out the door. That was where Courtney got her friendliness from.
Courtney's pov;
We pulled up outside our school, and hopped out Dylan's jeep.
I saw Ellie walking over to me with Josh and Alex and their dates, and as soon as Josh and Alex saw me, they came rushing up to me like excited 5 year olds when they see Santa for the first time.
They jumped onto me, crushing me under their weight.
"Kind-of-crushing-me-here." I said in between breaths.
"Sorry. We're just excited to see you! You look lovely by the way." They complimented me and I thanked them.
"Courtney, this is Ruby." Josh motions to the tall blonde, who I saw at lunch the other day.
"Hey." She smiled. "You look super gorgeous by the way!" She beamed at me.
"Awh thankyou! You look gorgeous as well!" I replied, smiling.
She really does look gorgeous. She's wearing a black and pink dress, that made her legs look been nicer than they already were.
"And this is Jasmine." Alex motions to the pink haired girl.
"Hello." Jasmine said shyly.
"Hey Jasmine. You look really beautiful." I complimented her and she blushed. I didn't know she was this shy.
"Thankyou. You look stunning." She complimented me and I beamed at her.
She was wearing a black flowly dress and you could see the end of her rose tattoo on her thigh. She had a pink lip ring in which was quite cute.
"Shall we go in then?" Dylan said, and I nodded whilst intertwining my hands with his.
We walked into a buzzing atmosphere.
We grabbed a table with 8 chairs, and we all took a seat.
I was in between Dylan and Jasmine.
I noticed another tattoo on the inside of Jasmine's elbow.
It was a song lyric.
It read; 'Please say that love is forever, your forever is all that I need.'
I noticed that song lyric from somewhere, but I couldn't quite place where.
Now I remember! It was from one of my favourite bands Sleeping With Sirens.
"You like Sleeping With Sirens?" I asked Jasmine whilst pointing at her tattoo.
"Yes! I love them!" She said, excited that I shared an interest with her.
"What's your favourite song?" She asked me, and I had to think for a moment.
"I love If 'I'm James Dean, You're Audrey Hepburn', 'Free now' and 'Dead Walker Texas Ranger'. But of course I like all of them. What about you?" I asked her.
"I love 'If I'm James Dean' as well!" She exclaimed. "And I love 'Low'." She beamed.
"If I ever get tickets to see them, I'll be sure to bring you with me!" She said excitedly and I giggled.
"I'd love to go!" I grinned.
I really liked Jasmine. I thought to myself.
Just then the song 'Tenerife Sea' by Ed Sheeran came on, and I immediately looked at Ellie.
This was our song, we always danced together when it came on. Messing around of course, but it was still our song.
"Dance with me?" Dylan asked and I grinned.
"I'd love to." I replied getting up and dancing with him.
His arms were round my waist, and my arms were round his neck.
He wasn't much taller than me, so I could put my arms around him comfortably.
I looked over to poor Ellie who had to hold Oli's waist whilst he put his arms around her neck, as she was too short to reach his neck. That's what you get for being 5 foot though I guess. They didn't seem to mind though, as they were both staring into each other's eyes smiling.
"You honestly do look so beautiful." Dylan said, causing my eyes to turn their attention onto him.
I was staring into his beautiful chocolate brown eyes, and I was in awe of how perfect he was.
I leant in to kiss him, and he immediately kissed me back.
We had to keep our kiss light and U rated, as there were people around us.
"So are you having fun so far?" I asked him, knowing he didn't even want to come to this dance tonight.
"Yes I am. I'm having fun because I'm with you, and even though I didn't even want to come here tonight, there's no where else I would rather be than here with you. Cheesy I know, but it's the truth." He said, and I giggled.
"You cutie." I teased him and he smirked.
The song finished and I saw Ellie walking back over to the table we were all just sitting at.
"You wanna drink?" Dylan asked me and I nodded.
"Go sit back down, I'll get you one." He said and I did as I was told.
I walked over and joined my friends.
I looked down and saw Ruby's nails. They were so lovely.
"Your nails are really nice!" I exclaim, and she smiles.
"Thanks!" She replied.
"Did you get them done?" I ask her and she nods.
"I got them done at this really cute nail parlour, it was quite cheap, and the woman who works there does them really well." She smiles.
"That's cool." I smile. "So." I lean in so the rest of the group couldn't hear. They probably couldn't hear anyway as they were all having one big debate about who's got the better abs, Josh or Oli.
"Do you like Josh?" I ask her and she nods.
"I've liked him since forever, but he doesn't know that." She said truthfully and I smile.
"That's really cute. He likes you as well you know." I grin and her eyes light up.
"Does he really? Has he said anything about me?" She asks.
"In class, he's always talking about how beautiful you look, and how he really wants to ask you out, but he's scared you'll reject him." I say and she beams.
"I'd never reject him! Hey could you put in a good word for me?" She grins and I giggle.
"Of course I will!" I grin back.
"Thanks Courtney." She hugs me.
"It's no problem." I say and hug her back.
Just then Dylan and Alex come over with our drinks.
"There wasn't much choice, so I got you a coke." He says.
"Thanks my love." I reply and he grins. He likes it when I call him that.
I pull out my phone, and load the camera.
"Come on, I need pictures with everyone!" I say, and everyone crowds around me.
I take a bunch of group photos, and a few separate photos with different people.
"Give it here." Dylan says grabbing my phone.
"Rude much." I smirk.
He grabs me and pulls me into the photo with him.
We take several photos with each other, and he asks Josh to take one of me and him standing next to each other.
Suddenly I feel his hands pick me up, and spin me around, causing me to burst out laughing.
"Seriously Dylan stop picking me up!" I say whilst laughing.
"And where would the fun in that be?" He smirks before putting me down.
*******************
A few more hours went by, and the dance ended.
I took Jasmine's and Ruby's phone numbers, and I gave them mine, before saying goodbye to my friends, and getting into Dylan's car.
"So did you have fun tonight?" He asks me.
"I did. I had so much fun. I really liked Jasmine and Ruby. They were lovely girls." I reply whilst putting The 1975 on.
"Good. I'm glad you had fun." He replied.
Dylan's pov;
"I did. I had so much fun. I really liked Jasmine and Ruby. They were lovely girls." She replies whilst putting on The 1975 yet again.
"Good. I'm glad you had fun." I replied truthfully. I am really glad she had fun. It was lovely to see her laugh and smile.
I really wanted to ask her about what Zoe said and about the scar, but I don't know what kind of reaction I would get.
Well I guess I'd never know if I didn't ask her.
"So I wanted to ask you something." I said, suddenly feeling sick. I was nervous this would trigger bad memories for her.
"Hmm?" She says whilst pretending to do all the drum parts in the song.
"Your sister said something weird to me earlier." I say, and she doesn't seem to be phased.
"My sister says weird stuff all the time." She giggles.
"Well, she was saying stuff like 'please don't hurt Courtney, she's been hurt before'". That got her attention, her head snapped round and she was staring at me, with a 'carry-on' face.
"And she said something about a scar." I said and she frowned.
"She had no right to say that to you. Did she say anything else?" She asked in an angry tone.
"Well, no bu-" I started to say before she cut me off.
"Good. Just leave it then." She snapped.
"Well I just wanted to know what this scar was about? You can talk to me you know." I say and she stares straight ahead, not bothering to answer me.
"Courtney?" I ask her.
"What?" She snapped.
"Did you not hear what I just said?" I urged, growing impatient.
"Yes I did, I'm not deaf." She snapped yet again.
"Alright Jesus! I was just asking you what it was about! You don't have to snap at me!" I raise my voice.
"Well I'm f*****g sorry, but it's not easy to tell people that your ex boyfriend was a complete psycho who tried to f*****g kill you!" She raised her voice and I gasped.
"Courtney, I'm sorry, I didn't realise-" I started to say.
"Yeah yeah, I don't need your sympathy, just take me home Dylan." She snaps.
"Courtney-"
"Just drop it Dylan!" She shouts.
"No. I'm sorry-"
"FOR f***s SAKE DYLAN! WHAT PART OF DROP IT DONT YOU f*****g GET?! JUST TAKE ME HOME PLEASE AND DROP THE f*****g SUBJECT!" She screamed at me, and I'd never seen her so red before in her life.
Why the f**k was she shouting at me for? I didn't do anything f*****g wrong!
"Fine. f*****g hell." I say and drive her home.
Neither of us said anything the whole way home.
We got to her house, and as she undid her belt, I grabbed her hand, but she she snatched it away.
"Thanks for a good night. Bye." She says and simply shuts the door.
I sit there trying to get my head around what just happened?
What did I do wrong?
She looked really angry, but at the same time, really hurt.
I just wanted to hug her, and tell her everything was going to be okay, but I couldn't.
"f**k!" I screamed and hit my steering wheel.
Fuck this. I thought.
I drove away from hers, wondering what was going to be going through her head all night.
