Louie's prediction was right. Rose did indeed ask Fred to come to the dinner with him. It was her effort at trying to spend some time with him. She did not even know how he had agreed to come with her in the first place, let alone meet the people she worked with.
He seemed excited about the dinner. She could tell that he was looking forward to getting to know everyone. She wanted to introduce him to the CEO Louie Clinton, not knowing that he was the reason Fred had agreed to come with her instead of going with Emma.
