IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE is hammering her head. Or worse, an ax is planted in it. The aching in her skull flows like a cold tide. As soon as she opens her eyes, the light coming through the curtains, hits her, causing her to squint. Her mouth feels dry, a layer of dehydrated saliva coats her cracked lips, and a moan slips out of them as she sits up to retreat from under the blanket. Once on her feet, the room swirls almost causing her to lose balance and she reaches out for the nightstand in need of support. Feeling strong enough, she stands straight and heads for the bathroom.
