Celeste For the first time since arriving here, Christmas actually felt… normal. We had spent most of the afternoon in the lounge room, drinking, laughing and listening to Billy and Josh trade stories. Every now and then Jamie would add his own comment, usually making the others laugh even harder. I found myself listening more than talking. Not because I felt uncomfortable. Because I was learning. Every story Billy told gave me another tiny glimpse into the family I’d never known. Little pieces of Josh’s childhood. Stories about Billy’s younger years. Memories I should have grown up hearing. Memories I had missed. And strangely, instead of making me angry, they made me curious. I wanted to know more. Maybe that was a good thing. Lilly, however, hadn’t said much all afternoon. S
