I waited in my bedroom, trying desperately to convince my stomach that today was supposed to be exciting rather than terrifying.
It wasn’t listening.
My nerves were everywhere.
My hands wouldn’t stay still. My heart was beating far too fast, and every few seconds I found myself taking a deep breath in an attempt to calm myself.
It didn’t help.
I was nervous.
Terrified, actually.
But beneath all of that was something even stronger.
Excitement.
Today was the day.
Today, Jamie was going to become my husband.
“Nervous?” Diana asked.
I glanced at her and gave a nervous giggle.
“Very.”
She smiled.
“You’ll be fine.”
Then she added softly, “Just think. By tonight, you’ll be man and wife.”
