About half an hour later, Celeste and I finally made our way downstairs.
She headed straight for the lounge room while I detoured into the kitchen to put my coffee mug in the sink.
I barely had time to set it down before Josh appeared beside me.
“I fed the dogs for you, man.”
I glanced at him.
“Thanks.”
Then I lowered my voice.
“When Dad and Lilly leave, I need to talk to you about something.”
Josh’s expression changed immediately.
“Everything okay?”
“Yeah. I just don’t want them overhearing us.”
