Samuel’s P.O.V
In my attempts at keeping her out of my mind, I made it a habit to phase and stalk campus grounds.
Partly, it was a way of passing time and ensuring that I didn’t think about her. Especially because after my night time jogging and patrols, I always felt exhausted enough to fall asleep almost instantly by the time I got home.
But the bigger reason was, even though I was staying away from her- I needed her safe. I knew how hard it was for jerks like Brooke to let go of their obsessions, especially when their ego had been bruised too.
And being in lycan form afforded me that peace of mind, pertaining assurance about her safety.
As I easily sensed the presence of other paranormal creatures in the woods, and made it a habit to constantly check them out too- just to be sure that Rosy wasn’t in trouble again.
The same happened that night; I could hear their taunting thoughts directed at her, and ran until my lungs felt like they were on fire- just to get there in time.
“Samuel Lazar, how annoying!” Brooke’s thoughts were directed at me.
“The feeling is very mutual,” I bared my teeth for him to see just how much I didn’t mind tearing some flesh, if it came down to it.
“You just have to ruin my fun all the time,” Brooke snarled. But I wasn’t fazed.
To me, he was a little puppy dog that liked to bark but couldn’t bite because it had no teeth.
“I’m afraid you’ll have to find new ways of having fun, Brooke. Because she’s off limits,” I stood protectively in front of Rosy. And felt her heaving a soft sigh of relief.
I was mad at her for putting herself in the line of danger like that, but decided that I’d deal with her later.
“We’ll see about that,” Brooke enforced his threat and howled out loud at the half moon.
Making me almost give in to the strong urge to smack him around. Because how dare he threaten someone who I obsessively needed safe and alive the way I did Rosy.
“It’s so pathetic of you to pick on someone who isn’t your size,” I hissed the thought out to him through clenched teeth.
I saw the brown wolf baring her teeth at me as they both slowly backed away.

“We heard the fun going on around here, and ran in hopes of joining in.” Two lycans appeared right where Sam had, when he arrived.
“It’s over now,” he responded to them. “We were just leaving.”
“How disappointing,” the dark brown furred one hung its head.
“Listen, if you ever need back up in whatever just happened here. We’ve got your back,” The black one with a yellow stripe around its neck piped up.
“I appreciate it,” Sam went over to them, and touched their noses with his.
I couldn’t tell if I was witnessing the formation of a brotherhood or a reunion.
But all of that was quickly forgotten as soon as the two lycans jogged along, continuing their journey- leaving me alone with him.
“How could you do this, Ro? How could you put yourself on the line like that?” I could tell that he was upset, but trying by all means to keep his cool.
“I needed to see you again,” for the very first time ever, I channeled my thoughts out to him while in wolf form.
“And of all the options and ways you could have explored, you decided danger was the right call?”
His head voice began to rise and I could see my mistake.
I had made a bad call out of total desperation. And now the man that I was falling for, couldn’t even stand the sight of me.
With his gaze averted, I didn’t know what to do.
But one thing for sure, I didn’t want him walking away from me again.
And so I took a few steps towards him, and rubbed my face against his neck apologetically.
With our physical beings being in contact like that, I was banking on him giving in to the connection- instead of running away from it.
And I knew that I was winning when I heard him making a pleasurable sound of his approval at the back of his throat.
Craig’s P.O.V
I had heard rumors fanned by girls who claimed to have gotten together for the night with Sam, but had never seen it with my own eyes.
Until a few hours ago, when he rocked up with a pretty young thing at our apartment.
“What’s up, bro bro.” I yelled as soon as the door open, readying myself to share with him the amount of drama I had experienced from the girls I had woken up in bed with.
But the second I saw that he had a girl in tow, I jumped to my feet and cleared my throat.
“I left you some pizza man, if you want some.” I didn’t know how to act. Because I didn’t even know what the situation was between the two of them. And so I awaited the introductions.
“Ro, this is Craig, my house mate.” He casually said, as soon as he locked the door behind him. “Craig, this is Rosy.”
“Hi, Ro- Rosy.” I don’t know why I was nervous, but I was. Pretty girls had always had that effect on me. Except the mystery part there was that, she wasn’t even with me.
“It’s very nice to meet a friend of Sam’s.” I pointed out that last part, in hopes that my guy would provide some clarity on the situation in front of me. But Sam being his usual keep-to-himself self, didn’t.
“Likewise,” the girl politely smiled, still standing a bit behind Sam’s arm- almost as if he was her very own personal body guard.
“Well, I have to run out folks.” I thought on my feet.
Because it was unspoken bro code, to give the roomie some privacy when he brings home a female friend. “I’ll catch you up later.” I said, as I fastened the laces of my kicks and left.

“Did you at least get some dinner first, before going to the forest to act like MacGyver?”
My voice was hard but calm as I asked and led her to our kitchen.
“I was on a mission and time wasn’t on my side,” she chuckled teasingly.
I warmed a few slices of pizza, pulled soda out of the fridge and poured for both of us.
“I’m glad one of us thinks this is a laughing matter,” I sarcastically remarked. To show her how upset I still was over the situation that she had put herself in.
“How many times do I have to apologize?” She threw her hands up in frustration. “It’s literally all I did, the whole way here.”
She had a point. But I wasn’t about to lie to her either. I wasn’t over things yet.
“Just tell me what you need me to do, for you to get over it.” She pleaded, batted her eyelids in that irresistible way of hers.
“Don’t do that,” I sighed heavily.
“Do what?” She blushed, making it clear just how much she was aware of the effect that she had on me.
“Try to get into my head like that,” I sighed deeply, right when the timer went off.
“What should I do for you to forgive me then?”
She innocently bit her bottom lip.
I couldn’t believe what the little shy seductress was doing to me. She was pushing all the right buttons and knew it too.
“I just need you to be safe,” I surprised myself too, by cupping her face.
For some reason, by some reflex, I felt like the message would easily get across if our faces were only inches away from each other.
“I’ll try,” she muttered, and closed her eyes in anticipation.
God! I wanted to feel her lips moving with mine again, but I wasn’t going to give in until I knew for a fact that she got my message loud and clear.
“I need you to stop going to the woods alone, it provokes them.” The words came out as a whisper, in response to her shaky breathing and small gasps.
“I’ll try that too,” she whispered back.
“Good girl,” my voice had gotten low and raspy.
Where the flesh of our skins had come into contact, a fire could have easily erupted.
“I’ll keep both my promises, if you promise me one thing in return.”
She looked at my face as she spoke, watching me from behind her lowered and long eyelashes.
Damn it! I had been counting on her romantically excited state, to make her forget about the possibility of negotiating. But there we were!
“I’m all ears?” I waited expectantly for the bomb to drop.
“You need to stop keeping me at arms’ length,” she spoke slowly, as if wanting to be sure that I got the message clearly.
Seeing no way out, I nodded. “I promise.”
“Then we have a deal,” she seductively whispered the words. Leaving me no choice but to kiss her.
Goodness knew how long a week it had been without seeing or even touching her.
I had struggled and missed her terribly.
Feeling her lips on mine was the cure that I had been in desperate need of all along.
And right there, in our small kitchen- all my dreams came true at once, as sparks between her and I flew.
