I'm tired as hell, and so is everyone else in this meeting. My eyelids are just begging to close. The thought of sleeping was so stuck in my head, that I could hear Gollum from "The Lord of the rings" voice being whispered in my ears.
Instead of him saying, "My precious."
He was saying, "Sleep."
I couldn't help but giggle. It was honestly funny.
"Ahh, is she alright?" Savannah asks, looking at me worriedly.
Mia rolls her eyes and sucks her teeth, burying her face into her jacket. "She's fine man, she's just tired as hell like the rest of us." She mumbles. "If only "professor" Elijah would hurry up talking, so we all can get some rest."
"So in other words, she's sleepy high?" Michelle questions, writing some things down in her journal. She was the only one that was paying attention out of the three of us.
Mia nods. "Yeah, Michelle. She's sleepy high."
"Why the hell is everyone talking, when I'm talking?!" Elijah yells, scaring the living hell out of the four of us. I was so shocked that I fell out my chair. Savannah looks down at me and tries to suppress her laugh, but fails miserably. Mia bursts out laughing, while Michelle only shakes her head. Her eyes glued to her notes. I couldn't help but laugh at my own self too. "Stop laughing!" Elijah yells again, placing his hands on his hips. "You guys are acting like children."
Mia looks up from her jacket, a creepy grin on her face. "We tend to act like CHILDREN when we're SLEEPY!" She yells out, in a low demonic voice.
This only makes Savannah and me laugh even harder. "b***h you look and sound like a damn demon." Savannah says trying to contain herself.
"She needs an exorcist!" I yell out, clutching onto my stomach as I continue to laugh.
Michelle puts her journal over her face to hide her smile. "They're gonna get worse if they don't get any sleep." She says to Elijah.
Elijah shakes his head. His face is red, underlining how mad he is. "Big mad, big red." I say pointing my finger at him. It makes us all laugh even more.
"Grow up!" He yells again. "Our first hit is in three days and you guys are acting like brats!" He walks closer. "You guys aren't getting any sleep, not until I'm done going over all of this."
I pout. "But Elijah, we've been going over the same thing for the past two hours. It's three in the morning,"
"Demon hour." Michelle adds in.
"And no black folks is ever up at this time."
He looks at me with a straight face as if I was lying. "If anyone can tell me what type of screw driver we're gonna use to open the house door, I'll let you all go to sleep." Michelle quickly raises her hands, but Elijah shoots her down. "Anyone besides Michelle." The room is so quiet that you can hear a pin drop. Savannah, Mia and me look back and forth at each other, lost as hell. Elijah sighs. "Michelle, you can answer the question."
She nods, before clearing her throat. "We're using a Torx."
"Because?" Elijah asks.
"Because Andreas only uses Torx screws."
"Teachers pet." Savannah says while faking coughing.
Elijah glares at her, before looking back at Michelle. "You know what, Michelle you can go. You're the only one that seems to be prepared for this thing."
Michelle smiles and stands up quickly. "Really? I can go?"
"No." Elijah says frowning. "I was only saying that to see what you'd do. Right now your team is struggling, and you don't leave when you're team is struggling. Everything you guys go through, you guys go through it together. Meaning if these three have to stay up all night to learn these things, then you do too... even if you do know everything."
Michelle sighs and sits back down. "I hate you damn bitches." She grumbles under her breath. "Man ask me that stupid ass question, just to punish me."
I chuckle, shaking my head. "If we continue to stay up, who's gonna watch Elliot when he wakes up."
"Obviously me, since I only need three hours of rest to function." Elijah says. He claps his hands together. "Now can I get back to teaching, this warehouse is getting cold."
Savannah rolls her eyes. "Yes, continue professor." She says, in a fake British accent.
Elijah bites his tongue, and continues on. "As I was saying, after we screw the locks off the door we're gonna need a passcode. Why you may ask? Because there's another door. Andreas has taken every percussion there is to make sure that no one gets into safe house. From what I know, the code is a ten digit number. Savannah, I'm looking forward to you getting me that code."
Mia frowns. "Why are talking about the house, if we're breaking into the bank this week. I thought breaking into the house was the hardest part."
"It is the hardest part." Elijah answers. "We're talking about the house because we've already gone over everything about the bank. Would you like for me to go over the bank again?"
Mia nods. "Yes... I just don't wanna get anything wrong." She sighs. "It helps when you repeat it."
Elijah nods. "Do you all feel this way?" We all nod. "Okay, then I'll say it again." He walks to the table and pulls out the banks blue print from his pocket. "Alright. The bank opens at ten thirty in the morning every day. And during that time period, there isn't much people there. Yes, it would make sense to go in then, but we're not going to." He explains. "See, we need a lot of people there because..."
"The more the people, the more hostages we have." Savannah says cutting in.
"Exactly. So we'll go in at a time when the bank gets full. Which is around one in the afternoon. Michelle and Brandy goes in first to make sure everything is the way it's supposed to be. And if everything's alright, Mia and Savannah I'll signal you guys to go in last. From the Starbucks across the street, I'll be keeping watch on the inside. I'm your eyes and ears when it comes down to what the hostages are doing and if anyone decides to be a hero. Speaking of heroes, what do we do if someone decided to be one?"
"We shoot them." I answer.
Elijah nods. "What do we shoot them with?"
"Red rubber bullets, so that the hero and the hostages think they've really been shot." Michelle answers. "And we only aim at the legs and down."
"Good job. While Michelle and Savannah sort everything out with the hostages, Brandy and Mia you'll be making your way down to the vault. From there on Mia will open the safe and the both of you will begin to put the money in the bags. Time is the last thing we have, so you guys need to be quick. At any given moment anyone can call the cops. Do we f**k with the police?" He questions.
"Hell f**k no!" Mia spat. She had several bad run ins when it came down to them. They were also the cause of her younger sister passing away. Fifteen year old Michaela was just walking down the sidewalk of her street when two officers pulled up behind her. They yelled at her and asked her several questions about where she was supposed to be, but Michaela didn't answer them. She just kept walking and because of that, they shot her... dead. When Mia got to the crime scene she explained to the officers that Michaela was deaf.
A year later during the trial it was revealed that the batteries in Michaela's hearing aid had died.
The officers were found not guilty.
Mia has held a vendetta against them and anyone else who wears a badge ever since. To her, there wasn't any good cops. They were all the same to her.
"That's right, Mia. Therefore if any of you guys get caught, you're not going to jail, you're going to Federal prison and you're going to end up serving a Federal sentence. I don't know about you guys, but that's the last place I want to end up again. What do you guys do if you get caught?"
"We take our own selves out." Mia finishes.
Everyone stays quiet for a moment.
As crazy as it sounds, that's what we all decided on.
Andreas has connections everywhere. So if we did get caught, he'd surly make one of his goons take us out.
We'd rather end our own life, than have someone else do it.
It's better this way.
Elijah clears his throat. "Ten bags. That's how much bags Brandy and Mia have to pack and carry till they reach you guys back in the lobby. Once they're there, Michelle and Savannah will help carry the bags and you all will use the back entrance to leave out of there. With your assigned partner you guys will get into your assigned car and drive to the abandoned construction site. And once it's clear that you guys aren't being followed, we meet here."
"Great got it. Can we get some sleep now?" Michelle ask, as she lowers her journal.
Elijah sighs. "Yeah, go ahead and get some sleep." The words didn't even finish come out his mouth. Mia and Savannah had already made a run for it, the both of them jumping on top of their own blow up beds. We decided to spin the next three days here at the warehouse. It was convenient for us.
"Idiots." Michelle mumbles, before looking at Elijah and me. "Goodnight guys."
"Night." Elijah and me respond before standing up. I begin walking towards our blowup bed. "You mad at me?"
He shrugs. "Yeah, but I'm not gonna make a big deal out of it." He says lowly. "You're tired, you have the right to act up." Glancing over at me he sighs. "It really is cold in here."
My eyebrows raise. "You must really hate the cold." I comment, before stopping in front of our bed. Reaching down, I take the headphones off a sleeping Elliot and place them near his book bag. He barely said a word when we got here, poor kid hates adjusting to new places.
"Bad memories." Is all Elijah says, before getting into bed. He covers himself fully with the sheet, his arm drapes over Elliot's little body. "Don't ask me to talk about it." He blurts out. "That's the last thing I want to do right now."
I pout. "I wasn't." But in all honestly I was. A part of me just wants to know more about him and where he comes from. Don't get me wrong, he's told me things about him. But it's always good things, never the bad. He's very secretive when it comes down to certain things. It feels like he's hiding something. After taking off my slippers and putting on my bonnet, I join him and Elliot in bed. "Can I ask you something?" I ask lowly, so the other girls wouldn't hear.
"Always." He mumbles, shaking underneath the sheets. He really was cold.
"Would you ever forgive Andreas?"
He pauses for a moment and I'm met with silence. "No." He finally answers. His voice sounds distant, as if he's not sure of his answer.
"How come?"
"Because in my life style, there's no room for forgiveness." He replies emotionless. "And if we're being quite honest, forgiveness is a made up word. No one ever truly forgives, even the ones that say they do."
My mind process his words. "So what if I ever wronged, would you still believe that?"
Elijah lifts up his head to stare at me. "Where is all of this coming from?"
"Nowhere, I'm just curious to know."
He sighs. "I don't know Brandy." He admits, laying his head down on the pillow. "Are you trying to tell me something?"
I chuckle. "You'd know if I was trying to say something Elijah. I'm honestly just curious to know."
Elijah chuckles as well. "Hopefully Elliot isn't as curious as you. I'd have a headache for the rest of my life."
"Asshole." I mumble.
"My God, can you guys just kiss already so you can go to sleep!" Mia groans.
"That part." Savannah says, agreeing.
Turning to Elijah, my eyebrows raise. "You know, I'm starting to regret is not getting two warehouses."
Elijah shakes his head, smirking a bit. He sits up. "Come here." He whispers. Doing as he says, I sit up and lean over Elliot. Elijah places his hands on my cheeks, before pulling me close. He plants a kiss down on my lips and I instantly react to him, kissing him back. His lips feels so tender and smooth.
I bite down on his lower lips, before slowly pulling away. I smile up at him. "Goodnight Elijah." I whisper, laying my head down. My eyelids closes involuntarily.
"Goodnight Brandy." He whispers back.
It was going to be hell waking me up in the morning.
