AUTHOR’S POV Sophia noticed Maxwell trying to fade into the background, like he had nothing to do with the fracas between the two women. She couldn’t let him get away without a scratch, especially since he was her main target. “Maxwell,” the crowd quieted at the sound of Sophia’s firm voice. “Did you not notice that your sweet fiancée is wearing someone else’s ring?” Sophia asked in a mocking tone. Maxwell looked stunned for a split second, like a deer caught in headlights. Before Sophia could capitalize on his bewildered state, his face morphed into something that resembled righteous rage. “How could you be so ungrateful?” he cried in an elaborate hoax of agony. “I did the best I could, what more do you want from me Sophia?” Sophia reeled back, not at all expecting Maxwell to respond
