CHAPTER 32It was true. Lothaire had married Pandora when he was a human, after he’d won the Verbal Jousting competition five years in a row and become a noble. They had drifted apart, but they were still good friends who enjoyed sleeping with each other on occasion.
“We haven’t exactly been husband and wife for about two-hundred years,” Lothaire reminded her. They weren’t divorced—she was far too much fun. He suspected she felt the same way about him, because she’d never raised the issue. But they had both agreed long ago that they should see—and prey upon—other people.
She shrugged. “It was worth a try.”
“I’ve actually come here for a different reason.” He dropped his smile. “There are Lords of the Darkness in the palace, and possibly the city.”
She sat bolt upright, radiating a fear-
