The meeting, The witch and the Blackout

The following morning, i had woke up to Gemma cuddle right into me, she must have cried somemore after i fell asleep last night, because my shoulder was wet through.

I lay there thinking, how can Maria-Hope be so, so evil to her own sister? Maybe that is what her father Adilade the witch hinter saw in her? and that's the real reason why he left?

I also couldn't help think about what Gemma and Maria-Hope were telling us at the table last night, i want to help people and i want us to 4, Gemma, Jessica and Myself to run the safe haven for any supernatural beings in danger. But from what i can gather i can't because i'm a human.

Think about this situation saddened me the more i dwelled on it in my head. With Gemma still asleep on my shoulder i told her in a wisper, hoping she would hear it innher sleep "i want to stay with you, i don't want to leave". I went quiet in dread of being kicked out when i heard Gemmas soft sleepy voice whisper "i don't want younto go either".

Shocked that she was awake, i told her "sorry i didn't know you were awake". Gemma sat up, put her chin on my chest and smiled, she looked me in the eye with here tear ridden blood shot eyes, from where she was crying so hard.

"i want you to stay", Gemma said. She turned and sat up with her feet dangled over the edge of the bed, and continued "but you can't". Confused as to why i can't i sat up next to her and asked "but why can't i, i can help we worked together really well to get my mother out of the hell dimension, i don't understand why i can't?"

Just then we were interupted by a knock on the door, Gemma exclaimed "come in". Jessica poked her head around the door and asked "was i ok to have breakfast?" Gemma got up and went to the door, and told Jessica "yeah i'm coming now, let me get changed". Gemma closed the door, went to her wardrobe and opened the doors, she took out some dresses and skirts, flung them on the bed.

I begged Gemma "please let me stay you're in charge herw now it's your say no one elses, please, i want to stay with you".

She told me to look the other way while she changed into something. As she was changing, i couldn't get this whole thing out of my head, that there a pretentual i'll have to go home. but i was determined to get Gemma to let me and possibly mum stay and become protectors.

After a while Gemma said "it's ok you turn round again". I turned and could not believe my eyes, Gemma was dressed in a sparkly emerald green dress that came down to the knees, tan coloured tights, and very dark green high heels, she had done her long stright black hair into a bun, and statted to work on some make up.

Meanwhile theres me still in the clothes i wore yesturday, all dirty, bloody and torn, from the many fights that we had.

Gemma said "we all nee to have a meeting and work a few things out, like you say, i am the boss here now, so it's down to me". I was over the moon, that Gemma decided to take the situation that unfolded yesturday, put it behind her and look forward to the future of the safe haven.

"go get yourself changed and presentable and gather Jessica and your mum in the great hall at 1030am". Gemma looked determined, so i asked "what are you going to do?" "i'm going to check on Maria-Hope", she replied.

A little concerned i gave Gemma a face, which she either read my face or my mind to say "is that a good idea?, don't do anything stupid!" So Gemma calmly smiled amd said "no, i'm to look through the door and just make sure she is ok, that's it i promise'.

I smiled at Gemma and walked out of her Bedroom and went next door to my room, to get out of these dirty smelly clothes.

I opened the door and walked in to see mum was asleep on my bed, so i snuck in to grab my clothes with the intentions to creep out and change else where, to let her sleep.

But as i opened my chest of drawers, she woke up and asked "Brendon? are you ok? what's going on?" i told mum "shh, relax everythings fine, i just wanted to get some clean clothes". Mum nodded with approval. I knew i needed to let her know of the meeting in the great hall so i said to mum "Gemma has called a meeting in the great hall at 1030".

Mum started to climb out of bed, as i gathered my clothes, she accepted the invitation to the meeting.

I left the room so she can get herself ready, so i went to the bathroom to get changed, after having a nice hot shower.

After myshower i started getting myself ready to go too the great hall. A while later, i was all dressed and ready to go, I quickly went over to check on Maria through the cell hatch, thinking of the fact that Gemma checked on her, so what did she do to her? I opened the cell door, walked over to Maria-Hope and saw that she was still breathing.

Satisfied that Maria was ok and om the road to recovery, i made my way to the great hall. I enetered the hall and Gemma was dat over at a table waiting for everyone to arrive. I sat nex to to her and asked "aee younalrigh?" With anpositive attitude she replied "yeah, all good, you?" "yeah, bit worried of what your going to say now but i'll try to stay positive". Gemma smiled but looked away.

We sat for a while in an awkward silence, when mum and Jessica had arrived for our meeting.

As they sat down Gemma stood and said "ok, welcome to the meeting, this is about how this place can and will run under my control, this is a chance for you 3 to tell the rest why you think you should stay". Gemma then looked at me and said "Brendon your up first". I can talk to a group of people very well so this took me by surprise, and left me on the spot, so i slowly stood and statted to talk, whatever was on my mind "i want to stay for a number of reasons really, urgh, number 1, Gemma we worked well trying to get my mum out of hell, i gather information although i couldn't enter the libray of dark magic, i found some helpful stuff, and i also helped you with the spells by grounding you, and number 2", i paused for a moment wondering whether i should say this within this group, but i realised that i, didn't care, so i continued to add "Gemma i have grown feelings for you, and, urgh, i don't think you can deny, urm, any feelings for me" Gemma seemed to be taking this all on board as i continued to say "i love you Gemma, please don't make me leave, i want to do this by your side, and i want to spend the rest of my life with you".

I quickly sat back down feel embarassed. Gemma looked at me with what i hope was admiration. I looked tonmum and realised she had a tear in her eye, she looked proud.

As we went round the table, Gemma pointed to Jessica, for her turn to take the stand, Jessica lookeed as nervous as i was, i appreciate that for an 13 yr old girl this must be very dawnting for her, but she explained "i rhink i proved myself to you all, as you know i'm a witch, i consider myself to be quite a powerful witch, i feel i'm getting strong day by day, and i feel i could learn alot from Gemma, i would love to help protect people like me, an outcast, i was chased away from my family, i need a home, and i want to help, others in the same situation like me".

Gemma sat and thought about what Jessica said before she pointed to mum and said "Jenny, your up". Mum stood and said "well, i could help with the after care while you lot went off on the adventures, i could cook and clean and care for the people you guys have rescued, simple as that really".

Mum put it plain and simple, and we all feel we had a strong case, to justify why we should stay. Gemma sat for a while, thinking of the best cause of action, while we all egerly waited her verdict.

Gemma stood and said "ok, i think we can make a go of this, the people that is here at the moment will be the future protectors, of vampires, werewolves and witches".

Over the moon with Gemma's decision, i jumped up and hugged into Gemma, gladly she hugged me back and laughed, but she followed on with a but "but, if any of you end up at deaths door and your luck enough to survive, you wont be able to stay here for your safety i can't have you being killed, i've had enough of that".

Over joyed we all agreed and started to set to work on research, to find anyone out there who might need our help, amost importantly, how we can help.

Gemma suddenly disappeared, I asked mum "where's Gemma just gone too, she was here just a second ago?" I turned and bumped straight into Gemma and knocked a glass ball out of her hand, but before the ball coukd reach the floor Gemma held her hand out and caught the glass ball with her powers.

As she raised the glass ball to her hands she looked at me dissapointedly, i apolodgised. Gemma told me "this ball shows the images of the ones in danger, this is how my mother found you and Jenny.

Jessica took the ball and asked "can i look?" Gemma answered "yeah, sure". Gemma gave Jessica the ball and told her she would be over to show how to use it.

I looked at Gemma with love and greatfulness, i remember the butterflies fluttering around my body. I pulled Gemma aside, grabbed her hand and held it, gave a light kiss, while Gemma smiled with love at me. I asked her "would you want to go into a realationship with me?". Gemma' lovely warm smile grew bigger, she placed her forehead on my forehead and said "of course". We kissed, and my heart pounded with joy.

Gemma pulled away from the kiss and told me "go and check on Maria-Hope, you silly git". I laughed and tapped her bum with affection as i walked past, to go to the other side of the great hall towards the corridor.

I walked down the corridor with joy in my step and great anticipation for the future with my new girlfriend, i jumped to the door and opened the cell hatch. When suddenly my happy face turned to a very surprised face, of dread. I very quickly opened the door and shouted to Gemma, because Maria-Hope was gone. But as i opened the door it blew back and smacked me against the wall behind.

Then everything went black.
