Chapter 11

Nikki's POV

"You're worthless!" Dad shouted as he slapped me.

I just lowered my head, I'm not in the mood to talk back.

"How come you failed huh?!" He asked.

"I haven't seen him today either." I answered.

"Useless! Get out." He just said rubbing his temples.

I just shrugged and went out. We were talking about my mission back there. It was about the mission to kill Kinien.

Kinien  and I have been friends since our first year in uni. We hung out, ate lunch but we're not that close. We just liked each other's company, we didn't know everything about each other.

I've killed too many people in the past. I don't know what's holding me back this time. Is it because Kinien treats me as one of his friends or is it because of what will happen after I kill him.

I don't have a lot of friends, if I'm not with Kinien 's companion then I'm just alone. That's because I'm always transferring from one place to another because of these killing shits. I'm sure if I'm done killing Kinien, my father and I will transfer again to a different place.

There's this feeling that I don't want to go away. Not now that I've got new friends. Having a lot of friends is nice and warm but I don't want them to get involved in this life of mine. Especially him, Chris. He's so good to me, I can't let him get hurt.

I heard my phone buzzing.

Chris calling...

I sighed before answering the call.

"Hey." He said.

"Wassup?" I asked.

"Let's go out." He said happily.

He's really something, he always wears that cold face on but he's really cute and childish.

"Your treat?" I asked.

"Always." He answered and I chuckled. "Park at 7?" He asked.

"Sure. Bye." I said then hung up.

Jeez, my heart's beating too fast. It always happens when I'm talking or even just with him.

No. I can't be in love with him. He'll just despise me if he finds out about my dirty work and besides I'm going away after I'm done with this mission.

Is that what's holding me back from killing Kinien? Because I know I'll be away from Chris after that.

I stood up and walked to my closet. If I'm in love with him then does he even feel the same way?

"Waaah! Chris, is that a new bag collection?" I asked, pointing at the woman walking in front of us.

"Hmm, I think no. You have one like that, just a different color." He said, chuckling.

"Oh." I just said and sipped on my hot chocolate drink.

Lub.dub.lub.dub.lub.dub.

It's my heart again. Should I ask him if he loves me, too? No. What if he's not and he got shocked. s**t I don’t know anymore.

"Panda." He called.

"Yes?"

"Are you happy?" He asked.

"Yes." Then I giggled. Girlish, I know, but he’s not minding it. I grew up being forced to train and do missions benefiting the group. My parents never even thought of what I would feel or what I really want to do with my life.

"Good."

"Chris." Now it's my turn to ask. He just hummed in response.

"Do... Do you... like me?" I asked.

He looked so shocked. My heartbeat increased rapidly making me so anxious and nervous as seconds went by. When he opened his mouth and said the words I fear the most right now, my world crumbled.

"Nikki, no I-"

"I'm just kidding, Chris! Uhh, I'll go now ok? Dad's calling. Bye." I said as I started to run away. He wants to say something more but I won’t let him. I’m afraid.

That's it! I felt my tears falling. I ran and ran until I got into the park.

He doesn't like me. I'll just move on. But how? He's the only person who made me feel I'm cared and important. No. He really doesn't like me. So I have to continue my mission. So I can have an excuse, so I can escape from this pain... from him.

I wiped my tears. I decided to go to Kinien 's house but as I walked in the park, I smiled bitterly at who I saw. It's Kinien. The prey's into his near death.

I pulled out my hidden dagger from my sleeves, it's always with me. I'm sorry Kinien.

I sneaked near him, he's on the bridge looking down at the lake water. I'm behind him. I stepped once more and dashed closer and stabbed his back. He groaned in pain. I pushed him off the bridge.

I was about to run when everything turned black. What happened?
