After the presentations were over, Mark had left the building to vent his anger. Aleyna’s accusations were replaying in his mind. He was sure that Karen had stolen those earrings from his bedroom. She was being covetous whereas he had not given her a reason to do so. He might have enjoyed all this attention a couple of years back but now he detested it. Why? Because now it involved hurting the woman his heart beat for. And that woman thought him to be a… cheat. He felt disgusted at Karen’s hostility and childish antics to put off Aleyna.
It was around 10:30 pm when Mark finally returned to the office to get his laptop. He pressed for the elevator while waiting for the sound of metal churning but heard none. This was odd, there was no indication of the lift moving between floors. He
