(To Whom Our Heart Belongs)
"RETURN MY BAG!" Brianna harshly pushed the girl with pig tails hair who snatched her bag.
It's late in the afternoon and the class is over. Students are now going home from the private academy. It is her first day as a grade six student at the elementary school she just enrolled in.
One of her classmates asked her for money earlier but she refused. She grew up, valuing every coin she handled in her hands. So she didn't give away a single coin when asked.
The girl became angry and provoke her when the teachers were already gone that afternoon. But she stood up and shook her hand away. The girl was shocked when she spat in her face and then walked away.
She even heard her cry from behind.
The school ground is vast so it took a while for her to get out.
To her surprise, an older girl in a pig tails blocked her way. She looks a year or two older than her. Based on the uniform she is wearing, she is a highschooler from the adjacent school.
She saw her classmate, who she spitted on, behind the tall girl. They look alike even if the other one is elementary. She assumed that they maybe are brothers.
She was asked if she was the one who spit on her sister's face. She just answered yes.
They were five of them, highschools, and she was alone. The two girls grabbed her arms and brought her to the side where only few were passing by. One took her bag. She struggled to reach it because the highschools were taller than her.
The girl holding her bag was raising it up when she pushed her hard.
She always fight back, even then. The world where she grew up was even worse. In comparison, these bullies are not even close to those she has fought before.
They seem to be living well and capable of buying enough. Why do they still need to asked money and bully someone?
The girl looked at her wickedly then rushed quickly. Since she was only a small child, she was quickly laid down, started to get punched in the face. Her hands were small and could not reach the girl's face. Because of that, she only scratched her body, slightly tore her white upper uniform.
She was about to be given another blow when someone suddenly grabbed the hand of the girl on her top, pulling her away. It was a guy.
That didn’t stop the girl and rushed towards her again, who just stood up on her feet. She was about to fall on his back when the guy caught her in the back and helped her to stand straight. The guy blocked the attack of the girl and expertly twisted her hand backwards.
"What do you think you're doing to my girlfriend?!" Another teenager guy came, looking so angry.
The boyfriend of the girl she fought earlier tried to punch but the guy who saved her expertly avoided it. He even hits the boyfriend with a light hit on the head.
It was the first time she had seen him fight. She couldn't help but admire his very cool way of fighting.
"I didn't want to hit the kids, but what will your parents say when they find out the troubles you're making?" he asked, threating.
That's when the highschools stopped and left. They know that they have nothing against the college guy.
"The driver didn't saw you at the gate of the academy. Your first day turned out to be action-packed, young miss," said Justin. This is their butler's son.
He picked up her pink bag, tapping the dirt off, and slung it over his own shoulder. Now, he looks like a babysitter.
The guy is smart and is taking a law course. She didn't know what it was but they said, only those with a different level of brain can finish that course. He always shows very compose emotions. Still, that didn’t detract from him being a nice guy.
In fact, he looked like a prince in her eyes at those times, even if he acted like a knight in shining armor.
She diverted her gaze because of the unknown feeling building inside her. She walked into the car waiting for them.
She thought, it would make her happy to enter a school. But the paradise for a child that she thought turned out to be violent as nightmare. She kept thinking about going back to home schooling. Maybe, that would be better.
She was quiet on their way home. Justin pulled out a first aid kit and touched her face, looking the wounded side of her lips.
"You look like the first time I saw you," he said, which she couldn't understand very well because he talks very fast in English language.
"Ah! It hurts!" she whizzed when she felt the pain because of the ointment he had applied on her lips. "Don't treat it! It'll get better even without that."
"What did your teacher said? Say thank you when someone is helping you, shouldn't you?" he reminds her.
She crossed her arms and looked outside, avoiding his lectures.
AWKWARD. They were both not uttering any words inside the car.
She pretended not to feel well earlier so the host of the gathering would excuse them to leave.
"Are you okay?" Kairen asked her but she just crossed her arms. "What's your problem?" he asked again, slightly irritated with how she is acting.
"My problem? I thought we were just pretending? You did not said anything about kissing each other." She shifted her body slightly away.
"Ah, is that it? That was just a kiss. If we have to pretend that we were dating, I think kissing is in the bag."
"Just a kiss? A kiss is only given to the person you like. I was supposed to give that to the man I like. But you crossed the line!"
"So, there is a man you like?"
"Why? It's normal for me to like someone."
"I thought you were a man," he mumbled, making her head heat up even more.
"Excuse me? I am a girl. Are you blind? Just so you know, the man I want is perfect. He is not like you. And I've wanted him for a long time." She smiled dreamy as she began to describe Justin. "The way he moves, talks, and walks in a gentleman way. Ah!"
She even touched her cheeks just to feel if they were hot. And they are very hot. Maybe blushing right now.
"Okay," replied the man who broke her fantasy.
He even laughed at what she said. "If that's an imaginary boyfriend, I can understand. You're just still a teenager after all."
"Tss! Be ready when you see the woman you're looking for. I'll make sure to let her know that you're a cheater," she threatened in annoyance.
"What?! You won't do that."
"Why not?" She smiled, challenging him.
"Because I'll also do everything so you won't get your money," he answered back.
"Tss. Wait. Where did you put my money? I remembered, I left here in my seat, last night."
There was a long pause before he grinned. "You already have it."
"What? I haven't taken anything yet."
"You already have it. You're even wearing it."
Slowly, she turned to Kairen. "What did you say? How dare you? You bought the money, my money, for this gown?"
"And the shoes," he boasted.
"I will return the dress. Give me back my money."
"You'll return the gown? You want to undress right now?" His grin widened even more.
"Are you really that p*****t?!" she yelled in annoyance. She could not even punch him because of his wound that had not yet healed.
"Look, I'm not interested in you. Neither do you. We both like someone else. So just forget what happened. Just forget that I kissed you and pretend that it never happened."
She did not answered back. It was pointless debating with this guy.
Kairen escorted her up to their mansion. Justin greeted them immediately.
"Why did you come home so early, miss Brianna?" asked Justin.
"She doesn't seem to be feeling well," Kairen replied.
"Ah. I'm just okay."
She noticed Kairen turning to her, looking like she was the weirdest person that time. Of course, she will talk to Justin in the softest and nicest voice she has.
"Can you take me to my room?" she asked Justin.
"Sure! Point to your room," Kairen meddled, suddenly picking her up and then took her away from their butler.
"What do you think you're doing?"
They heard Justin from the back. They were now at the door of the mansion when he turned slightly behind.
"I'll take my fianceé to her room. Excuse me," smirking, he said then climbed the stairs while she was in his arms. In order not to fell from his arms, she tightly hugged his neck. And she can smell his manly perfume on that part.
"What do you think you're doing?" she asked in whisper, worrying anyone would think that they were just pretending.
"How about you? What do you think you're doing? I told you, you're mine right now. No other man can hit on you. Or our plan will be ruined."
"I'm not doing anything to ruin our plan," she replied. Now, he reallu looks like a possessive boyfriend.
"Ah, I'm just okay. Can you take me to my room?" He mimicked what she had answered earlier to Justin.
She was about to laugh at what he had done, but tried her best to contain it.
"I can see the way you look in that guy. Is he the one you like, Bryan? Tell me, Is he the prince charming who your heart belongs to?"
