Chapter 9
Banafsha's POV
I still couldn’t believe I had accepted to get married to King Humair, it still felt like a dream, I was getting married and there was nothing I could do to stop it from happening,
He had made it so that this was my only choice, I could not let my people be sold into s*****y and starvation, I had gotten them into this dilemma in the first place so I must get them out of it.
Right now, I was receiving treatment for the arrow wound on my stomach, I had been giving a royal chamber and five handmaidens had been assigned to me, they had told me their names but right now, I couldn’t remember, I was sure I will remember their names as time goes on.
I had been bathed and cleaned, it was during this process that one of the maids had noticed how serious my wound had become, it was on the way to becoming infected, she had quickly called my attention to it,
I had not wanted the physician to be called but before I could tell her not to bother with a physician, it was announced that the royal physician had arrived,
When he had been brought in, I had asked him who had sent him to me, he had said it was the king who had asked him to come and examine my wounds.
That was not something I hadn’t expected, after a lot of persuasion from the maids and physician, I had allowed the wound to be properly examined.
“Your Majesty, your wound needs to be treated carefully, your wound seems to be infected, if you follow the instructions I will give to you, you will get better soon” the royal physician said,
I was not interested in the pity of his majesty, so I will not accept his attempts to pity me,
“It is not something serious, you can leave now” I said and pulled down my garment to cover the wound.
The physician paled “I am afraid I must protest your majesty, you need treatment very quickly before it becomes serious” he said,
I was quiet, someone I felt perhaps if I just died it will be better for me, the life that awaited was one I felt was once than living.
“I thank you for your concern but you can leave” I said,
The physician looked at me pleadingly one more time hoping I would change my mind,
I kept my adamant expression in place, not giving him room for any discussion,
He bowed his head and left.
Once he was gone, one of the handmaiden said to me “Your majesty, please you have to get treated, your marriage is in two days, you can’t afford to be sick on your wedding to the king”
I ignored her, the last thing on my mind was my wedding day, my thoughts were with the people of Marwa, I kept praying they were all safe, I missed Junnut and even Jawhar,
I am not sure I will ever be able to forget the expression on his face when I had accepted to marry king Humair, I had felt heartbroken for him, the expression on his face when he has led the soldiers back to Marwa, he had looked defeated, In all the years I had known Jawhar, I had never seen him look so broken, he had always been so graceful and calm, a kind of gentle aura surrounded him, I had not realized all this until I had seen his face after agreeing to marry the king.
I had cared deeply for Jawhar and now it was too late.
It took me a while to realize that the maids were still talking, I was tired and weak, I hadn’t had a proper sleep in days, I believed I needed a good sleep before Junnut arrived tomorrow to help me prepare for my wedding to the king of Atrabad.
“I wish to be alone” I said to them, they bored their heads quickly and walked out, I was soon left in silence,
I walked over to the elaborate bed and sat on it, I wouldn’t lie and tell myself that I was not impressed with the room, it was glamorous and beautiful, it reminded me of my mother’s room when I was a lot younger,
It had been the room of my dreams when I was a little girl, I had wanted a room just like this once,
I suddenly felt angry at myself for having such thoughts, those dreams belonged to a little girl in a different time, I was a grown woman now and those dreams were useless.
I lay on the bed for a while and finally I fell into a sleep filled with dreams of beautiful dresses and castles.

King Humair's POV
I sat in the throne room and waited for the return of the royal physician, I had told that once he was done from queen Ifza's chambers, I requested him to report on her condition,
I was surprised at myself that I was interested in knowing how she was doing, I sat on the throne and restlessly tapped my fingers on the throne,
The doors to the throne room opened and the royal physician walked in, he had a grim and somber expression on his face, and for some reason, I prayed it was not because of the Queen’s condition,
He bowed his head and said “Your majesty, I have returned from the queen's chamber”
I cleared my throat and said “And how is her condition??”
The physician's face fell “Your majesty, the queen requires immediate medical attention, her wound is on the way to becoming infected, she needs to treated right away or the consequences will be dire” he said,
So if the condition was as serious as he said, why then was he here, I believed he was still supposed to be in queen's chambers administering treatment to her,
“So why have you not treated her?” I asked,
The physician had a very glum expression on his face when he said “The queen has refused treatment”
To say that I was stunned will not do justice to how I felt, how could someone be so stubborn, even in the face of possible death, she was still so very stubborn.
Without having anything to say, I dismissed the physician,
Once he was gone, I stood up and began pacing around the throne room, that woman was giving me a headache, I was trying my best to be tolerable of her actions but she was not helping matters in the least,
Her pride forbade from thinking clearly, she was so caught up in her prideful ways that she didn’t know what was right and what wrong, she saw things only through a small window.
I felt frustrated by the whole situation, the fact that I would have to deal with such a woman all my life was troublesome to think about.
I went back to sit on my throne, why was I so bothered about her?? Its not like I cared what happened to her,
Then I remembered how lost she had looked when her people had returned to Marwa without her, despite the fact that she had an Indifferent expression on her face, I could how lost she looked in those swirling pools of black that were her eyes, she looked like she wanted to leave with them more than anything in the world,
I had felt bad for her but this was the path she had chosen for herself and she had no choice to walk the path she had chosen.
I exhaled deeply, I needed a something to distract me from constantly thinking about that proud woman, I had not being able to get her out of my mind since I saw her on the battle field, even before I had seen her face, her eyes were the first things that had drawn me to her.
I stood up and walked out of the throne room, I was not sure my exact location, I kept walking, the two guards following behind me went exactly where I went, I found that I was heading towards the Queen’s chambers,
I quickly turned a bend and headed to the palace gardens, I couldn’t believe what I was doing.
