Flora's eyes scanned the clock for what felt like the hundredth time. Only 30 minutes left to meet the deadline. She typed furiously, Clevin beside her offering encouragement."Almost there, Flora! You've got this." Just as she clicked "submit," the office lights flickered. The computer screen went black."No, no, no! Not now!" Flora exclaimed.Clevin rushed to IT, returning with a solution. "We'll have to restart the server."Flora's anxiety spiked. "Will we make the deadline?"Clevin reassured her, "We'll make it. I promise." As they worked, Flora's phone buzzed. An unknown number."Hello?""Flora, this is Rachel from Intralid Ltd. We're interested in acquiring your father's assets."Flora's grip tightened on the phone. "What assets?""We'll discuss details later. Meet me at our office tomorrow at 10." The line went dead. Flora's mind reeled. What did Intralid Ltd want with her father's assets? And how did they know about her family?Clevin noticed her distress. "What's wrong?"Flora hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. "Just work stress." As they finally submitted the project, Flora couldn't shake off the feeling that her life was about to change dramatically. Meanwhile, Peters sat in his office, reviewing Rachel's report."Everything in place?" he asked.Rachel nodded. "Yes, sir. Flora will meet us tomorrow."Peter's eyes narrowed. "Ensure she's cooperative."Rachel's expression remained neutral. "I'll handle it." The scene faded to black as Flora's worries intensified. Flora couldn't concentrate on her celebration with Clevin. Her mind kept drifting to the mysterious phone call."Earth to Flora!" Clevin teased, waving his hand.Flora smiled weakly. "Sorry, just tired."Clevin's expression turned serious. "You've been through a lot. Let's get you home." As they walked out, Flora's thoughts lingered on the call. What assets did her father have that Intralid Ltd wanted? At home, Flora found her siblings huddled together, anxious."Big sis, what's happening?" the youngest asked.Flora forced a reassuring smile. "Nothing, just work stuff."But her father's words earlier echoed in her mind: "I've tried my best for you all." Had he been hiding something? Flora's phone buzzed again. This time, it was her father."Flora, meet me in the living room. We need to talk." Flora's heart sank. Flora entered the living room, her father pacing near the window."Flora, sit down," he said, his voice laced with tension. Flora obeyed, her mind racing. Why was her father dragging?"I know about Intralid Ltd's call," he began. "They want to acquire our family's land."Flora's eyes widened. "What land?"Her father hesitated. "Your mother left us a valuable property. I've been keeping it a secret." Flora felt a mix of emotions: shock, curiosity, and anger. She didn't know about it."Why didn't you tell us?"Her father's expression turned defensive. "I was protecting you. Intralid Ltd would stop at nothing to get it." Flora's thoughts reeled. Her mother's property? What did it mean for their future? Just then, her stepmother entered, her eyes gleaming with interest."Tell her the rest," she urged.Flora's father sighed. "Intralid Ltd is willing to offer a substantial sum. Enough to secure your siblings' future." Flora's heart sank. Her father was considering selling."What about our mother's legacy?" she asked, her voice trembling. Her father's expression softened. "I'll do what's best for this family." Flora knew that at this point, she had to act. Flora's mind whirled as she left the living room. She couldn't shake off the feeling that her father was hiding something. In her room, Flora found her siblings huddled together, anxious."Big sis, what's happening?" the youngest asked.Flora took a deep breath. She shouldn't lie to them this time around, they deserve to know."Father's considering selling Mom's property to Intralid Ltd." Their eyes widened in unison."No!" the eldest exclaimed. "We can't let him!"Flora's determination solidified. "I'll find a way to stop it." As she hugged her siblings, a resolve formed within her. The next morning, Flora arrived at Intralid Ltd's office, nervous but determined. Rachel greeted her, polished and poised."Welcome, Flora. Let's discuss the acquisition."Flora steeled herself. "I'm listening." Rachel outlined the offer, highlighting the substantial sum.Flora's instincts screamed a warning. "What's the catch?"Rachel's smile faltered. "No catch. Just a straightforward business deal." Flora sensed deception. Just then, Peters entered the room, commanding attention."Ah, Flora. I see Rachel has briefed you." Flora's eyes locked onto Peters, searching for answers. Peters' gaze pierced through Flora as if sizing her up."I must say, Flora, you're quite impressive," Peters said, his voice dripping with sincerity. "Your determination to protect your family's legacy is admirable."Flora's instincts remained on high alert. "What do you want, Mr. Peters?"Peters chuckled. "Directness. I like that. Very well, let's get down to business." He gestured to Rachel, who handed Flora a folder."This is our revised offer. We're willing to increase the sum, but we need your cooperation." Flora scanned the documents, her mind racing."What exactly do you need from me?" she asked, stalling for time.Peters leaned forward, his eyes glinting. "We require access to your mother's property. There's something... valuable hidden there."Flora's grip on the folder tightened. "What makes you think that?"Peters smiled. "Let's just say we have our sources." Suddenly, Flora's phone buzzed. Clevin's name flashed on the screen."Excuse me," Flora said, stepping outside to answer."Clevin, what's up?""Flora, I dug into Intralid Ltd's records. There's something fishy going on."Flora's heart skipped a beat. "What is it?""I'll tell you in person. Meet me at the café at 5." Flora's mind whirled. What secrets was Clevin uncovering? Flora returned to the meeting room, her mind racing with Clevin's revelation.Peter's eyes narrowed. "Everything okay, Flora?"Flora forced a smile. "Just a family emergency. Sorry."Rachel handed her a pen. "Shall we finalize the agreement?" Flora hesitated, stalling for time."I need to discuss this with my family," she said, buying herself an escape.Peters' expression turned cold. "Time's running out, Flora. We need an answer today."Flora stood, gathering her belongings. "I'll get back to you soon." As she exited the office, Flora felt Peters' gaze burning into her back. At the café, Clevin waited, his eyes scanning the room."What did you find?" Flora asked, sliding into the booth.Clevin leaned in. "Intralid Ltd's been involved in shady deals. I think Peters is after more than just your mother's property."Flora's grip on her coffee tightened. "What else?"Clevin hesitated. "I found a connection between Peters and your father's past."Flora's eyes widened. "What kind of connection?"Clevin's expression turned grim. "I'll dig deeper. But be careful, Flora. Peters won't stop until he gets what he wants." As Flora left the café, her phone buzzed again. A text from an unknown number:"Trust no one, Flora. Not even Clevin." Flora's heart skipped a beat.
