I HAVE BEEN STARING AT THE BLANK PAGE FOR FEW MINUTES NOW, before we move to this town, mom gave me a notebook so that I could write about how I feel, my experience and other stuff that I didn’t listen or more like I didn’t bother to listen.
But due to lack of my brain juice, nothing seems to appear in my mind considering I have been staring into blank space for a while. I let out a sighed throwing my bag over my shoulder before heading downstair, full of anxiety knowing that today is the day that my whole life is about to be different.
I walked into the kitchen to find my mom wearing pants suit cooking over the stove while my dad is sitting at the dining table reading his newspaper as usual. Mom and Dad are completely two different people, mom is a perfectionist, she tends to be uptight and bossy in getting things done in the house while Dad is the cool and laid-back Dad. According to Mom, there is a possibly that he have an ADHD considered how hyper, childlike and clumsy he can be at times.
“There’s my one and only daughter.” Mom greeted me smiling “What do you want for breakfast?”
I gave her a small smile “ An omelete would be nice.”
“Thought you going to say that, one Ruthie special coming up!” She put the plate that have an omelette on the table, sliding it to me.
I grinned at her happily before sitting on the table beside dad “How do you know me that well?”
Mom let out a chuckled “You’re my daughter, it’s my job.”
Then the phone ring, Dad look up from his newspaper grinning at us raising his phone at us “Hey, what’s my favourite hospital food? Jello!”
Mom rolled her eyes as he walk out the kitchen while talking on the phone, she sat in front of me while I’m eating the omelette “How are you feeling? are you excited for school?”
“More like annoyed because we moved here and I have to go through all over again on making friends.” I said while munching my food.
Mom tilted her head while frowning in confused “ What’s wrong with that? You’re beautiful and funny, I’m sure it’s not that hard.”
I snort when she said that as if those stuff will help me to make friends but I wasn’t forward to because I don’t want one.
“I don’t want any friends and the reason I have to make friends because it’s going to make my life easier if there’s group project.” I told her.
Mom gave me a look “Really?”
I shrugged “Really. Besides, why did we moved here?”
“Since I grew up here and had a great time, I thought this would be a perfect for you to have an adventures.” said Mom while giving me a smile.
“Adventures? in a small town?” I raised my eyebrow at her.
“Just trust me, okay?” She ruffled my hair before leaving the kitchen “Wash the plate and have a good day at school!”
