It all started in Washington, DC, 20 years ago, when Sabastian's Father, a famous billionaire and owner of the Hale’s dynasty known as Mr Gillian Hale decided to plan an arranged marriage for his crippled son with a condition attached.
He began searching for a woman who ticks his criteria.
Sabastian's father knew a lot of prestigious men and their daughters, but they all didn't tick the box.
At the time, Selene Valdez was a 26-year-old orphan who had lost her parents to a curable illness if there was money to foot the medical bills.
Selene did all she could to survive as a youth after her parents passed, but what she earned from her menial jobs could barely pay her debt or help her live comfortably without having to worry about electricity bills, gas, or house rent.
One day, while she was going about her day working as a valet in a luxurious hotel, she noticed a Lamborghini drive in. According to her obligated duty. She walked towards the vehicle to park it properly after the people had alighted.
Fortunately, or unfortunately, it was Mr. Gillian Hale, a billionaire and owner of the Hale’s Tower and his son, Sabastian Hale, who were in the car.
She patiently waited for them to alight from the vehicle, be given the car key by his driver, and then proceed to do her job .
When Mr Gillian Hale alighted from his car,with his son, he noticed the young woman to whom his car was handed over. She looked attractive with noticeable body features.
Thirty minutes later, Mr Gillian Hale and his son, came out of the gigantic hotel. And while Selene drove the car towards him, he couldn't take his eyes off her. He just knew he had found the one.
Selene alighted from the car, walked towards Mr Gillian's driver, and handed over the keys.
“There’s something about this young woman, I can't just shake her aura off” Mr Gillian thought to himself.
And when Selene was about to leave, she was beckoned on by one of Mr Gillian's convoy.
“My boss would like to have a word with you” He said
Selene, who was nervous and surprised at the same time, “What does this prestigious man have to say to me” She muttered to herself.
She walked towards the man she believed was the boss and greeted him calmly.
Sabastian looked at her from his wheelchair, yet to understand why his father beckoned on the valet.
“You look like the one”
“What’s your name and how old are you, young woman?”
Selene who couldn't grasp what he meant by “you look like the one”
“My name is Selene Valdez, and I'm 26 years old” She responded.
Mr Gillian smirked, and exclaimed, “Perfect!”
Then he signaled to his PA to give Selene his business card.
Selene collected it, unsure about what she was supposed to use it for, but she collected it from the PA anyway.
“Contact the number on the card by noon today, Selene” He told her in a commanding manner
Selene bowed in acknowledgement, but before she could raise her head, the vehicle zoomed off right before her face.
She stared into the air, confused about the drama that had just been displayed.
But she shook it off and continued her duty.
By 4pm, Selene walked into the changing room to change her clothes and check out for the day, since her shift had ended.
While at it, the business card fell from her pocket. She bends and picks it up, looks at it for a moment, and thinks to herself “What does he mean by you look like the one”
The more she thought about it, the more curious she got.
“If I give him a call, what's there to lose” she pondered
She took her phone and dialled the number, filled with uncertainty about what was about to unfold.
Mr Gillian chuckled the minute he saw an unknown number call his business line. He answered the phone and said proudly “You must be Miss Selene”
“Yes sir”, Selene responded
“I don't have time to waste, so I'll cut to the chase. What would you do with a billion dollars, and access to my dynasty as my daughter-In law through a contract marriage” Mr Gillian said spitefully.
Selene's jaw dropped
She couldn't believe her ears.
After a minute of silence, she managed to ask “What are the conditions, sir?
“An heir to my dynasty” Mr Gillian stated factually.
“Think about it and let me know what you decide”, he followed immediately and hung up.
Selene couldn't control her tears.
Just like that, her world is about to change dramatically.
But what Selene didn't know is that, she's about to trade her soul for a disaster presented as a one-time life-changing opportunity.
