Sabastian Hale used to be the Hale's golden prizeless son.
He was the son that every other wealthy parent wants.
His father's friends would always compliment him. He was a role model to their children.
He's intelligent, reserved but outspoken.
He never let anyone walk over him, until he fell sick a few years back, his parents did all they could, but his spine refused to respond to treatments.
They booked different trips to see several doctors, hoping to get a positive result but it was to no avail.
This led to losing his balance and he was medically advised to use a wheelchair for movement as he can no longer stand on his feet.
The billionaire's prince story changed.
Parents no longer praise his name in their household. Neither do they compare their kids to him anymore.
But Sabastian never lived pitifully.
He was never seen bowing his head in shame, because of how life treated him.
The only thing he yearned for, was genuine love from his parents.
Unfortunately for him, his parents now see him through the same lens, as others did.
He lost the “golden son” trophy
He's now being used as a prize to be paid for the continuity of the Hales’ legacy.
Sabastian wheeled himself into a magnificent room in the Hales tower and Selene followed closely.
The thought of having to share a bed with a total stranger occupied his mind, the moment he looked at the huge bed, at the center of the room.
Selene sat on the bed as if it had always belonged to her.
“You do know you're now my father’s puppet right?” He whispered.
“It could be the other way round, dear prince” she said, smiling weirdly.
“You must think my father made you a billionaire and would let you to do as you please”
“We are both standing at the edge of a cliff, Selene”
“Words alone won't keep you standing, because you've been caged the moment you met my father” Sabastian replied sarcastically.
Selene funnily looked at him.
She made her way to the closet, took off her clothes, and had a long shower.
Everything that happened at the Hales tower began to replay in her head.
A loud laughter echoed from the closet.
Sabastian heard and was so confused.
“What exactly does she find funny in all this?” He murmured these words, almost angry at her audacity.
“I was born for this, and I won't mess it up”
“It’s now a game of chess”
“And I won't be the one to lose”
“I’m now a billionaire, in paper and reality, I won't act less, never to be tossed like a coin”
Selene soliloquized.
She returned to the room, ordered her meal to be prepared at the snap of her fingers, and waited patiently for the fine dining dishes.
25 mins later, the chef set the table as if it was meant for a queen, then he Invited the latest daughter-in-law of the Hales dynasty to the table.
She majestically walked to the table while signaling Sabastian to join her.
“We didn't have a proper wedding, we should at least have a proper dinner time” Selene said softly
Sabastian wheeled himself to the table and the maids helped him sit in the chair.
Then another moment of silence filled the room as they ate.
Sabastian decided to play along with whatever game this young billionaire plans to play.
But if she ends up going down, she’ll go down alone.
Sabastian naturally doesn't have a big appetite, so he left the table first.
Selene took her time to eat well. When she finished, she decided to take a stroll around the tower to get familiar with every nook and cranny.
As she walked past the people in the tower, she could hear some people gossiping about her. Rather than bow in shame, she kept walking with her chin raised high.
But she suddenly paused. When she heard someone say “Is she not aware that Sabastian has low sperm count?, How does she plan to produce an heir for this dynasty”
Her heart skipped!
Low sperm count?
The Hales didn't bother to mention it.
Were they hoping I would never find out about it?
How would I bear a son to h****k the Hales' wealth for myself now that I've been given to a man with low sperm count?
No wonder, his father didn't get a princess for their prince. He must've believed I was the perfect person to carry his burden.
“But there's nothing impossible, something has to be done about it”
“I’ll give them an heir, regardless of what it would take!”
“I’ll give them a full show to watch, while I'll be the judge of how the movie ends”.
“There’s no way, I'll be the one to be ridiculed, never!”
“Let the game begin”.
As she walked through the forty-third floor, she murmured these words to herself.
