The Wolf's King Mate

Liana's POV: "However, I prefer being called Alaric, The Mad!" He bellowed as a growl escaped his lips, strong enough to shake the ground at our feet. With this, he flashed his canines and in a split second, he snapped the neck of one the guards before walking through the gate.. "Send him back to hell!" Ronan growled between his teeth, ordering his men as he stepped in front of me. "Hell?" The Wolf King quipped, getting everyone to pause in their tracks. "I've been in hell for seven hundred years! And I guarantee you that hell is not a lake of fire burning at temperatures ten times hotter than the face of the sun. Hell is nothingness. Pitch black darkness that has no end and I've been stuck in that limbo for seven hundred f*****g years. If you want me to give you a front row seat like the two fallen comrades of yours that I've just slain, be my guest!" He added with a sadistic tone. I could hear the heartbeats of every man around me and all of them were beating at an unthinkable rate. Alaric was selling fear and everyone was eating it from the palm of his hands like sycophants. I could tell that even Ronan was shaken slightly by Alaric's threat, despite his menacingly dominant pose."What do you want with our pack?" Caspian questioned, as he stepped next to Ronan's side. "Don't be so full of yourself. I have no interest in your Pack or your Alpha, he can as well lower his guard." Alaric responded with pride. "Then what about the trail of destruction that has followed you to our gates?" A random man in the crowd asked. "Those were just distractions that wanted to stand in my way. I promise you, you have absolutely no meaning to me. I'm just passing by, looking for some people.” He responded, starting to sound irritated. I'm guessing Ronan got offended that as the Alpha of the Crimsonfall Pack, he was just treated as a nobody by the Wolf King. "You come here, kill two of my men and say that we are not worth a thought. I'll give you a reason for us to be your thought!" Ronan hissed, taking a few steps forward, shortening the distance between him and Alaric by around twenty feet. "You want an apology for that? In your dreams. Now, like I said, you're not worth the hassle. If anyone of you can tell me where I can find Cassia Zubin. I heard that she wonders around this side of the mountain. If anyone can give me any leads on her, I'll be on my merry way out of here.” Alaric suggested, still having that smug look on his face. As this standoff was happening, the voice that I had thought I heard calling out for me came back. This time, it was louder. So loud that I was sure I was not imagining it. 'Liana! It's him!' I snapped around, trying to find the source but once again, no one seemed to have said anything. "Are you alright?" Vera asked, as she was still standing next to me, gripping hard on my hand out of obvious fear. As I was about to tell her what had happened, is when the sound that was in my head clicked and I realized that it was familiar. Too familiar. It was Athena. She was back! 'Athena?' I called out to her. In my head, there was silence, and then a low and almost silent growling sound came through. "Liana, your eyes!" Vera gasped in a whisper, looking at me in shock. In her eyes, I could see the reflection of my face and looking at my eyes, they were glowing a bright yellow. A clear indication that Athena was indeed back. 'Go to him!' Athena urged, but it came out more like a command and my life depended on it. "Liana! Get back here!" Ronan's voice snapped, bringing me back to my senses. "Liana!" Vera's voice followed, prompting me to look for where it came from as it sounded like she was far from me. Looking at her and Ronan, I realized that I was in between them and Alaric. How I got there was a complete mystery to me. Turning the other way, I could see Alaric eyeing me and as he set his eyes on me, the smirk on his face disappeared. 'That can't be good.' I said internally as I was about to turn and bolt back to the safety of the pack. The twist was, no matter how much I tried to move, my feet seemed stuck on the ground. A low growl rumbled and I realized that it was from Alaric. I knew that that wasn't a good sign. 'What are you doing?' I questioned Athena, noting that she was the reason that I couldn't move. It seemed that after three years of being dormant, she was able to come back and take control over my body for some time. 'You are going to kill us!' I shouted at her as the voices of Vera, Ronan and the others were shouting for me to get away from Alaric. Looking at Alaric (thinking he'd be the last thing that I saw before he pounces and rips me to shreds), I could feel the intensity of the moment. "Who are you?" He asked, sounding a bit gentler with his tone. "A nobody!" Ronan answered, shouting over me. With that, Alaric turned and took off into the forest triggering his shift as he disappeared into the woods. Before I could even breathe a sigh of relief, Athena did the unspeakable. From my feet being glued to the floor, she forced me to take off, following Alaric. 'Athena stop!' I shouted in fear, but she wasn't listening. Same as to Alaric, she triggered my shift as I got closer to the forest and I could hear the shouting and calling from a distance from everyone in the pack as Athena forced me to give chase to the one and only Wolf King. It didn't help that when I saw the huge beast that was Alaric in his wolf form, in the distance running, turning and seeing me hot on his trail, snarling at me. 'You are going to get us killed!' I shouted at Athena. 'He can't kill you, he's your mate!' She responded, sending me into a spiral of emotions and thoughts.
