Prologue

A girl sprinted through the thick forest, pushing herself to run as fast as she could, oblivious to her surroundings or the consequences of her actions. "Please! Save me, God!" she cried out. Leaning against a tree to catch her breath, her moment of respite was shattered by the distant, chilling howls of wolves, prompting her to run once more, filled with dread. Above her, a man observed her frantic escape. A smirk crept across his face as he taunted, "Run! How far will you get? You can’t escape once you’re in my grasp." With that, he nocked an arrow to his bow, aimed carefully at her, and released it. "Ahhhh!!!" she screamed in agony, collapsing to the ground as the arrow struck her calf. The menacing wolf howls echoed once again, and she struggled to remove the arrow but only found failure. Desperately, she attempted to crawl using the bushes for support, but her efforts were in vain. Suddenly, another arrow pierced her other leg, rendering her unable to move, let alone escape. The man transformed into a colossal wolf and charged toward her. Seeing the fearsome beast, the girl instinctively tried to crawl away. "No, please! What do I have to do with you? Just let me go, or I’ll take my own life! I can't endure this hell," she begged. The wolf approached with a predatory growl, and then shifted back into his human form, looking even more terrifying than before—he was a barbaric figure. "Please... have mercy. I don’t understand why you’re doing this. Don’t take me back; I can’t live with you," she pleaded again, but he ignored her desperation, demanding a collar from his men. They quickly handed it to him. "Please, I’m still human, not your pet!" she cried. He chuckled darkly, fastening the collar around her neck. "You know why I'm giving you this? Because you're mine. You belong to Alpha Asher. My Mate." In that moment, his eyes turned a dark shade, and he trembled as if in fear. Without a hint of compassion, he dragged her, collared, out of the shadowy woods. His men watched the girl with pity, knowing she stood no chance against the formidable Alpha. He unceremoniously tossed her into a cage. "Remember your place. You’ll be caged for all your lives because you belong to me," he stated coldly, and then he turned to leave. Suddenly, he heard a light, mocking giggle. "Ha ha! I might be weak, but don’t underestimate me—an ant can take down an elephant. Like that ant, I’ll break out of this cage, and that will mark the beginning of your downfall, Alpha," she declared with surprising confidence. "You won’t get away with this," Alpha Asher challenged her. "We'll see about that," she shot back defiantly before fainting inside the cage.
