CH. 12- Caught & Bound

Chapter Twelve. Esme’s point of view. My anxiety was sky high as I felt the tightness in my chest get more and more prominent. My breathing hitched up and my heart felt frozen into my throat. The door to the house was left wide open which gran would never do especially if she was planning our big escape unless something went wrong. “Gran! Gran ! We gotta go right this instance…Gran?” I could feel panic setting into my heart as I shouted out for gran without any response . I was pacing and rushing around each and every room in the house just trying to find her. I could feel tears running down my cheeks as I completely collapsed into the floor without any hope left in me. Clothes were all over the floors of both our rooms …kitchen cupboards left wide open and the whole house was a complete mess as if it had been ransacked by a bunch of wild animals. By ransacked by a bunch of wild animals I in no way mean the horny wolves that attacked us the other day. I knew gran well enough to know she would not live in that filth till now talk less of her actually falling asleep when the house was such a mess . It was evident that she was preparing our escape…she wanted to run away and made sure to pack all of our valuables and important portions. My clothes were gone too as well as some personal potions and spells of mine so I knew for a fact that she was planning to take me with her at least the evidence proved such. The hurt in my heart burnt deep into my soul as I thought up all of the possible scenarios that could have taken place in this house to result in her leaving without me when she obviously cared enough to provide me with means to escape. Only a few of the scenarios I went over in my head seemed plausible. As much as I was hurt I knew that she would not willingly leave without me so it would mean she either got caught and was forced to run to safety or she is being kept prisoner by the Alpha. I could not risk going back to the alpha to find out if my gran was his prisoner and I also could not risk running away at the risk of her still being in this pack and a prisoner…either way I was screwed. The weight on my chest was making it harder and harder for me to breath by the second as I struggled to catch my breath. Tears were running down my eyes like a waterfall on the highest of cliff’s and I just knew an anxiety attack was about to follow . “Ohhh my baby …why are you like this ,” Her voice was like music in my ears as I moved my line of sight to the front door and spotted my beloved gran standing there with her worry written all over her face. I sprung up and off the floor with much haste and tightly wrapped my arms around her . “shii… shii… don’t cry baby girl . Everything is fine. I am fine, just calm down ok. We need to get going before they catch on and rub after us. I a sorry I wasn’t here when you arrived things are not happening according to schedule I needed to do some damage control,” I did not want to let go but I knew I had to. As much as I was happy to see her I knew that we should get the hell out of here and my overthinking mind should just be shut off before it sends me to an early grave. “ I sent the clothes a while back. I thought we would be out of this pack by now. It is already getting dark and you know the wolves would have an advantage over us if we try running away in the dark. We would be playing the game on their terms so I knew I had to figure out a way to even the scales a bit. I replicated your scent and placed it on some random rabbit so when the trackers try to follow your scent they Will be following the rabbit around. The stupid mutts won’t find out until it is all too late …genius I know. The backpacks are up ahead we will be out of here in no time,” The large goofy childlike grin on my face certainly did not fit the occasion but the pride that welled up in me was unmatched. She actually planned this out perfectly . I knew the woman was a mastermind but this was on a whole new level…while the rest of us were playing checkers she was on her own level playing chess , checkmate! “Hi ladies…going somewhere?” We had just grabbed hold of our pack backs from the shrubs they had been hidden in when Alpha Stone's calm voice caught our attention. Our line of vision slowly followed the sound of his voice and found him sitting on a tree branch not so far from where we were. It was more than obvious that he had been there waiting for us and he did not look amused at all. Gran and I’s eyes met and as if on instinct we ran . I could still bear him shouting and growling from behind us ,I knew he could and would easily catch up to us but I ignored him. “Get back here Esmeralda don’t make me hunt you down! How dare you try to fool me like this. I was offering you the moon and the stars , why betray me like this! Is this the thanks that I get for trying to do what is best for you high,” His anger could be felt in each and every word. I knew he was ruthless when provoked and his wrath was not going to be one that could easily be forgotten. I was not just running for my life but I was running for my sanity as well…lord knows I would not like to stay and find out what he would do to me . He was not even my mate but his anger showed that he saw me as his, meaning the betrayal he feels could be deadly not just for me but my gran too. There is nothing like a vengeful alpha ,the cruelty and dominance of an alpha wolf is so toxic that few live to tell the tale. “ Did you not hear me telling you to stop! I am not like the dumb wolves you sent following you fake scent all around the pack. That decoy was weak. You should really pay more attention to who you try to make mockery of Mrs. Jenkins…I assume that was your handiwork. I would have fallen for it too but you forgot one Important detail when making that decoy…Esmeralda has been with and all over me for the past few days. Her scent is no longer just hers, traces of mine are now mixed in with hers and what that decoy you have my pack members follow lacks traces of my scent,” The intense look in his eyes said it all…he was pissed. The calmness of his voice and the gaze he was aiming at my grandmother just screamed sociopath and I couldn’t help but feel like a pig being sent to the s*******r house. “Please do not do this . It is not her fault that I wanted to run away. Do not bring her into our mess. Your issue is with me ,” I tried reasoning with him but it was of no use. He just casted a ‘shut the Fu*k up’ look my way and proceeded to talk to my gran like I wasn’t even there. “Unlike those idiots I knew exactly who to look for …you. I knew the exact moment that I found the room empty, that you were the mastermind behind the whole thing. It was only common sense that she would try and come find you first and all that I had to do was follow your scent. I almost fell for you trick but in the end you led me right to her and now I will bring you to your end witch,” I did not even have anytime to process his words and try to talk him out of it. His body went flying to the air as he shifted mid air and landed right on gran's body with enough force to send her flying into the tree behind her. An angry growl left his lips just as a loud scream left mine. Gran was not even fully recovered from the attack when he pounced on her body . Just ready to tear her apart limb from limb.
